Pharmaceutical Student Group Visits Detroit Pharmacy students from th university visited the Parke Davi Compuny, in Detroit, Mich., ol April 14-15. J. S. Holland, C. S. Helms, A. C Lylle, C. I1. Biser, J. A. Blood worth, E. A. Jones, J. L. Burda, an, A. R. 'ettit, all of Columbia, wer among the 26 juniors and senior making the trip. Others were: W. H. Newton, For Motte; T. M. Holman, St. Mat thews; H. Abrahamian, Rock Hill J. H. Hickman, Sumter; B. J Wood, Johnston; Lois Nicholh Nichols; F. W. Lowry, Lowell Thomas Leonard, Greer; and J. C Osteen, Ehrhardt. Also: J. C. Lanford, Enoree; F T. Millones, Charlotte, N. C.;-' W. Smith, Estill; G. E. Waldrof Lancaster; O. A. Matthews, Ben nettsville; Julian Bolin, Greenwood W. T. Brown, Hartsville; R. M Streem, Cleveland, Ohio; and J Rollins, Florence. The students toured the larg pharmaceutical company an learned about the various product produced there. They saw opera tions involving the production o Chloromycetin, the antibioti found effective against 100 disease and pathogenic bacteria, and wer told about other drugs. The visitors toured the ,0-year old research building, the firs erected in America by any com mercial institution for the purpos of scientific research, and were tol the history of the 85-year-old Park Davis firm. Each year the university phar macy department sponsors a sprinj trip in order to give the student an opportunity to see the manu facture of pharmaceutical product on a large scale. - Convention To Be Held In N. C The annual YM-YWCA Sout Carolina Association conference fo the southern region will be hel at Blue Ridge Assembly, N. C during the week of June 7-14. May 2e is the last date upon which the (ollege Qualifications Test will be held during the present acadeic year.
