RAY CURRANCE, Sigma Nu alum, is descending to Fort Benning, Ga., to OCS. The Hillel Foundation held a big shindig last weekend in honor of the Jewish soldiers out at Fort Jackson. ISABEL DOUGLAS has received a sparkling diamond from James D. Sparkman of Prentiss, Mississippi. The wed ding will take place on the 27th of December. The Kappa Sig's had a party after the Wake Forest game out at the Arrolton (Could be "Carrolton" Club??) to cele brate BILL RENFROW'S punt recovery. IZZIE LOURIE and STAN PEARLMAN, Phi Ep's, en tertained Sandy Karesh and Marjorie Marx, both AEPhi's from Vanderbilt, at the Wake Forest game. ZTA's had a very successful drop-in on Sunday night. Sigma Nu alums up for the Wake Forest game included AL FISHER and LEWIS HAIGLER. Delta Zeta has pledged Helen Harvin from Hartsville and Jinx Wilson from Norfolk. Noted Thief to appear here December 12 and 13!!!. . . the University theatre is to present "THE CURSE OF AN ACHING HEART." Drayton Hall is the location and cur tain time is eight o'clock. Students are admitted by Activity Books. The Sig Ep Club is to have an initiation banquet on the fifteenth. The University Band is to have a concert on the four teenth. THAYER PHIFER, Kappa Sig and FRANNIE TAL BART had a swell time at the Wake Forest game. So did the other Kappa Sig's and dates. And the Kappa Sig's had another one of those "Rainbow chasing" parties at the Rainbow Room on Thursday night. Thhs time it was a "real" one. PAT MATHESON spent the weekend in Batesburg, and BARBARA FOWLER visited Cheraw. JUDY ANDERSON went to Timmonsville. CONNIE HOLLER went to Homecoming at Washington and Lee University. This is the first secretarial science fraternity to be organized on our campus. Primary objectives are to professionalize the status of the college-trained secretary, de velop leadership in the field of pro fessional secretaryship, give recog nition to those who attain excel lence in this field, and improve the standards of secretarial work. To be eligible for membership in Sigma Alpha Sigma, a student' must have fourteen credits in sec retarial subjects, an average of 3 in all secretarial subjects, an aver age of 5 in all other subjects, and second semester sophomore stand ing. The chapter members of the ac-; tive chapter are Jeanette Beisley, president; June Bouknight, vice president; Mary Ann Sanders, sec retary-treasurer; Marilyn Gettys, corresponding secretary; Princa McManus, reporter; Lula Drake, historian; Nancy Barbrey, Melle Beach, Patricia Bodie, Nancy Gary, and Charlotte Thornburg. The secretarial science faculty will also be initiated at this time. They are, Professor F. DeVere Smith, head of the secretarial science depart ment; Miss Aileen Funderburke, Mr. Merle Medhurst, Miss Eliza beth O'Dell, and Miss Evelyn Pope, sponsor. Miss Lelah Brownfield, of the Alabama College for Women, a na tional officer of Sigma Alpha Sigma, will conduct the initiation service and give a history of Sigma Alpha Sigma. Coed Given Demonstration In Make-Up Wayne Hutchinson, New York representative of Helena Rubin stein Cosmetic Company, demon strated the proper use of make-up at the meeting of Co-Ed Associa tion on Wednesday, November 28. Mr. Hutchinson, who has also been demonstrating cosmetics at Belk's Department store all week, used Miss Peggy O'Neil as a model as he showed the proper use of foundation cream, eye shadow and eyebrow pencil, powder, rouge and lipstick to the Co-Ed girls.
