TOMMIE HERBERT, Soiety Editor Noelle Kennedy June Presneil Norma Bergman a spoke a week . . . By NORMA BERGMAN All the rushing is over and we settle back to a normal life, thank goodness. But it was fun. Back to normal, German club dance tonight and the engineer's dance tomorrow night. Ah-h, we love this college life. To bring you up to date on past activities there were parties and more parties. On the 19th, the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity partied. Also, the Sigma Alpha Epsilon. The 20th was a popular night for gathering of clans; the Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi Sigma Kappa and the Phi Alpha Delta (legal frat) all enjoyed parties. Last night, the Beaux Arts group took time out from their schedule and enjoyed a party. Phi Sigma, B. D. Caughman journeyed to the beach over the holidays. Other Phi Sigs chased squirrels around the country side. Poor little squirrels. Shame on you fellas ! In the pinned department we have Joe Easley who pinned Mary Lukas of Winthrop. Also, Bill Yetman, Phi Kappa Sigma, pinned Ann Roberts, ZTA. Among the top seven finalists for the Maid of Cotton were Barbara Fowler, Chi 0, and Frankie Carroway. Big bouquets of roses to you both. And best of luck. Attending the- Furman homecoming dance were Salem David, KA, with Anne McLean, ADPi, and Eddie Stubbs with Ruby Lee Ward, ADPi. Phi Kap alums back for the holidays were Jim Cordell, Vernon Epps, Pete Hyman, Henry Nelson, Paul Johnson, Roy Little, Harold Zobel, Charles Sheely, John Williams, and John Herrin. They just can't stay away from the place. Willie Braswell, ZTA, traveled up to Durham last weekend for the Duke-N. C. festivities. Dropping-in Sunday night will be in the ZTA room from 8 until 9:30. It is a campus-wide affair with everyone invited. Partying Saturday night will be the Sigma Chis at Gib son's Pond. Delta Sigs danced in celebration of their Founder's Day, Nov. 17th. Music was by Fran Seminol's Pastels. Must be the Yankee influence. The Sigma Nus had a Bowery Ball at the Pinewood last week. Costumes were worn ... wow! Visiting the Zeta chapter were chapter councilor Beverly Eckert from Seattle, Wash. The four winds seem to have scattered the Phi Eps over the holidays. Ted Kurtz and Charley Bernstein went to New Jersey; Phil Garfinkle to North Carolina; Bill Novit and Izzy Lourie to Charleston; and Stan Pearlman to Atlanta. Nancy Mitchell, Tri Delt, went to Annapolis for a dance. Sounds like a nice way to spend the vacation. "Dinny" McMaster, Tri Delt, received a ring from Brock Williams from Mississippi. Congratulations to you. First add to Phi Ep news-Allan Baker of Columbia went home to dinner. Sigma Nus attended the First Presbyterian church en masse last Sunday to observe their Memorial day. Owen Cedarburg and Chuck Winder, Phi Kapps, spent the holidays with Dick Kelley in Sparta, N. J. Meeting last night was the USC Press club. They say it was a business meeting, but they enjoyed it too much. Yeh, business. Gee, a few people were on campus during the "liberty." Phi Kaps Tommy Camp, Richard Bobo and Skid McRainey were here to keep the spooks away. Ah-h, some patriotic fellows here. Kappa Alphas who journeyed to Virginia were Kemp Hyers, Huger Sinkler, Fred Jumper, Dupre Miller, and Bill Spencer. Bouquets to Jimmy Moore, KA, who went to Gainesville, Ga. for the weekend and made it home before Tuesday. Joyce Woodel, ZTA, took Ginny Sacher and Norma Berg man, also ZTAs, home for the holidays. Mid-semester grades are out, you know. Jerry Hayes, KA alum, pinned Bobby Fuller, KD alum. The boys in Tenement One had a hayride the other night. Oh, 'twas a cold night. Who was the wise one who took a camera along. That journalism 37 is a great course. With that T stop and ask forgiveness of THE DEAN, who accidentally might read this column.
