Live talent shows are also in popular demand. More com ments on campus events are de sired, "to make student life more interesting." * * * Classical music and hillbilly tunes are running a close race in the competition for popularity. There are still a few "old-timers" who prefer popular discs - "If you would play nothing but popular music all day long, it would suit me fine." Of the vocalists, Doris Day seems to be the favorite. * * * There were a great number of additional comments, which were favorable, unfavorable, and some amusing. Among the suggestions were a daily hit parade and a gos sip program. * * * A few of the pet peeves of the statidA ar "Very often requests are not played because the disc jockey doesn't like them.... Put a zipper on the disc jockey's mouth. ...Stop giving Bob Hope so much competition and try a little music. ...Let the 1812 Overture rest for a while. . . . We realize you're all amateurs, but you don't have to keep proving it every time you go on the air." The banquet was given in honor of the boys and girls who had earned letters in football and basketball. School board members and their wives, faculty, and parents were present. Dr. Kulcinski's address ap proached sportsmanship through the temporary extrinsic values as awards and stressed the psycho logical impacts upon one's charac ter, which he called wholesome per sonality, as the permanent intrinsic values of rewards. It was for the intrinsic values that he emphasized the adoption of a code of standards to meet the problems of everyday living. "Let's play more pure music. . . Faster, more popular classics, please. . . . I like it the way it is." (Bless you!) + * " WUSC is very appreciative of the interest shown in this survey and will endeavor to abide by the interests of the listeners.
