... a spoke a week ... By TOMMIE HERBERT Apparently the cold weather has awakened the campus. The place has really been buzzin' lately. Lambda Chi Alpha held their Homecoming Party at the Woman's Club on Saturday night after the game. The party was very successful with about 300 Lambda Chi's, alums, and visitors attending. Music was by Candy Boy and his orches tra. During the intermission the group was entertained by "FATS" HINSON and PETE KONDORUS who put on a dance routine and a short skit. Phi Sig's RAY TUREK, REES NOXEl-, HUGH BOND, and CHUCK DAVIDSON journeyed north for the holidays while ART TREIBER went to Charleston. Natch! TOBY WARD and RANDY BRYANT attended the Duke game. Among the alums returning for Homecoming were SMILEY DEAN from Orangeburg and NICK HAMILTON from Sum merville. Phi Sigma Kappa had a houseparty last weekend at Folly Beach. CHARLIE EMMONS, JIMMY JORDON, FREDDIE MARTIN, JOHN NORTON, PAUL PHILLIPS, JOE HUS BANDS, and dates enjoyed the occasion. Pledge officers for. A party was held in honor of the new pledges at Maxcy Gregg Woman's Club. Brother TOMMY THORNLEY and his band furnished the music. JACK KARESH, Phi Epsilon Pi alumnus, presented ROBERTA WENGROW a sparkling diamond ring last week. The wedding will take place in the spring. IRVING LISKOV, Bridgeport, Conn., was pledged by Phi Epsilon Pi on Monday. STANLEY PEARLMAN, CHARLIE BERNSTEIN, STEWART APPLEBAUM, JACK SPANIER and BILL NOVIT, all Phi Ep's, were among the loyal Carolina sup porters who journeyed through rain and winds to return from home for the Wake Forest game. Music will be by Clarence Brazell and his orchestra. The joint engineering council, which sponsors the dance, is com posed of representatives from the four engineering societies -- the American Society of Civil Engi neers, the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, the Chemical Engineering Society and the Me chanical Engineering Society. Werner Strauss is president of the council; Charles Cox, secretary, and Bruce Flemming, treasurer. Hillel Society Has Dance Saturday For UNC Guests The Hillel Society was host to approximately 25 visiting Hillel members from the University of North Carolina and other schools represented in the Carolina Foren sics tournament at a dance held at the House of Peace Synagogue Saturday night, Stewart Apple haum, social chairman, announced. At its regular meeting Sunday, the Society presented a radio script entitled, "The Lantern in the Inferno-The Story of a Modern Macabee." Bill Novit was the narrator and Jean Sokol played the part of Chana Senesh.
