Seems as if this campus really believes in my philosophy
of going to school but not letting your studies interfere with
other activities.
Carolina was well represented at the Clemson Homecom
ing festivities this past weekend-Gene Krupa being one of
the big attractions. PiKA's seens there were BILL STAN
LEY with REGINA OWENS, ADPi pledge; "RED" RAS
BERRY with CAROLINE THOMAS, Limestone graduate.
QUAY WILLIFORD, JOE HUDGINS, JIM DALTON and
DICKIE LEAPTROTT weren't left out by any means on this
excursion. VIRGIL MARTIN, PiKA, went the opposite
direction toward Winthrop for the weekend.
Other representatives to the Clemson Homecoming were
FANNY FOWLER, ChiO alum; JEAN LANEY, and PAT
MATHESON, ChiO's. LEWELYN FIELDS is still talking
about the wonderful Clemson House. Lew is engaged to
BOBBY HART of Clemson.
Wednesday, November 1, the Law Federation sponsored
a dance from 9:00 to 1:00 at the Jefferson Hotel. Attending
the dance were the law students, their wi'ves and dates and
members of the faculty and their wives. The evening was
ended by a square dance.
Phi Sigma Kappa recently had a party at the Wade
Hampton Hotel with Tommy Thornley and his band furnish
ing the music.
Members of Pi Beta Phi and their dates enjoyed a hay
ride and a square dance at Gibson's Pond Saturday night.
New pledges and active members of Pi Phi had breakfast
together at the Columbia Hotel Sunday morning after which
they attended Shandon Presbyterian Church. Pledges of Pi
Phi entertained pledges of other sororities on Wednesday,
October 25.
Even more Carolinians at Clemson last weekend were Tri
elts LOUISE CANTEY and NANCY McKENNON. Tri
)elts also pledged DOTSIE RICHARDSON Tuesday night.
ri Delt engagements announced: BEAUMONT BAR

rom various colleges to our campus. In recent weeks, Uni
ersity of Miami Phi Eps have stopped over on their way
o Pittsburgh and University of Virginia alumni have
topped on their way to Charleston for the Virginia-Citadel
ame.
MURRAY SEAMAN, a Zeta Beta Tau from Penn State
ow attending Carolina, and STANLEY PEARLMAN, a Phi

ame along with RAE FRIEDMAN and SANDRA KARESH.
hey will spend the remainder of the weekend at MURRAY'S
home in Philadelphia, Penna. Tuesday afternoon, a birthday
party was held in Sims dormitory in honor of MISS ROBBIE
LOU HARPER, who celebrated her 21st birthday. Among

chaperone. BOB POSTON wvas recently initiated into the
active ranks of Pi Kappa Alpha. Speaking of parties, the
PiKA rush party at the Maxey Gregg Woman's Club was
said to be a big success.
Just heard that BERT EDENS, ChiO alum, was pinned
by HOWARD HOUSE, Sigma Nu alum, last Sunday night.
If anyone has seen SYBIL PATRICK, Pi Phi, and JULIAN
BOLAND around, you'll know that they are busy making
wedding plans for this coming December 22.
Kappa Sigs gave their rush party last Friday night at the
Maxcy Gregg Woman's Club. With all that fine food and
dancing, who could help but have a good time! Ardent school
supporters carried their radios along and kept the group
posted on the scores of the George Washington game. First
Lt. CHARLIE McDADE of the Army Air Force, a Kappa
Sig and former student at U. S. C., was back on leave last
weekend.
Phi Kappa Sig's honored their new pledges with a dinner
at the Green Derby Thursday night after pledging. Many
Phi Kap alumni were on hand to meet the new pledges.
OLGA EDWARDS, Zeta Tau Alpha, and BETSY
KNOWLTON, Tri Delt, were gallivanting all over the coun
try, namely Chicago, having big times at the Press Con
vention.
Sigma Nu's must believe in partying! Last Thursday
night, Sigma Nu's and their dates enjoyed a party at
Mammy's Shanty to welcome the new pledges. After the
Marquette game Friday night they partied again at the
Shanty. On Saturday night they left again, this time for
the Hollywood Club. From all reports it was a fine party
and enjoyed by all. After the formal initiation of the new
pledges Thursday night, Sigma Nui's and the alumni gave a
banquet in honor of the pledges. Saturday afternoon there
was a football game between the actives and pledges. Yes, you
guessed it-the pledges won! Delta Zeta's had a party No

BAKER and wife chaperoned.
Mrs. R. A. AND)ERSON of Macon, Ga., Providence Presi-i

here for several days.
