IFC To Help Campus Spirit With "Visiting Inter - Fraternity Council will sponsor a campaign to be known as Greek Week to build up campus spirit and cooperation between the various fraternities, Lewis Haig ler, chairman, has announced. Each day of next week, two fra ternity pledge classes will enter tain pledges from all the other fraternities at smokers in the afternoon from 5 until 6 o'clock. Each pledge class has been di vided into three equal groups, two of which will each day attend smokers and.the third, which will be inactive. By alternating the visiting and the stay-at-home groups, each group will attend four smokers and entertain once. Aimed at better acquainting the I pledges on the campus with each other, Greek Week can be a huge A success with the work and assist ance of each fraternity. "Carolina has always b e e n famed for the congenial students on its campus. It is deplorable, however, that the friendly atmos- 0 phere has become decidedly icy in a the last few weeks. These are now available for se with the microfilm reader hrough the circulation department ~ f the library, Alfred Rawlinson, C brarian, has announrced. The microfilm reader is a Re ordac Model C which was pur- . hased for the purpose of research brough the cooperation of the Re- sI earch Committee at the university. A E ['own~ Theater Begins Plans For Mystery i Gene Crotty, director of the F 'own Theatre, has announced that lie theatre will present "Spooks," in' mystery thriller, as its next at- pi raction. The play will start its A un in the early part of March. A Tryouts for parts in the play mi nil be held as soon as the script of rrives. In Crotty also announced that the 'own Theatre is reviving Its Ti hlldren's Theatre. Early tabula ans have indicated this in even g school as well as courses of red through correspondence. Since the extension division was ken over by Director W. H. Ward 1937 it has grown to serve not ily students outside the univer ty but also students enrolled at arolina. A number of these are udents who find conflicts in their hedules when registering each mester, and solve these conflicts I taking a night course or subject r correspondence. The courses fered are devised appeal to both the student and ie"professor. On a correspondence airse the student may take as long i he wishes to complete the course id then take an examination, ade up by the professor, on the tnpus. Evening school and correspond ice courses are offered by prac eally all departments on the cam is so as to function with the resi mt students and professors. No igineering or piharmacy subjects ~e given by correspondence due the laboratory requirements ~cessitated by those courses. The tension division also offers a urse in citizenship for persons ho wish to become citizens of the nited States. Non-credit courses photography and improving the ecaking voice are also offered. Re-Instatement Considerations End For Spring The faculty committee on scho astic standing at the university ias completed its consideration of itudents who desire re-instatement 'or the current semester, Mrs. Arney R. Childs, dean of women, ias announced. Each application was carefully :onsidered. Four meetings were iecessary to complete the work. Students who fail to pass nine iours for the first time are always re-instated. Those who apply for receive more careful consideration. A student is seldom re-instated for he third time. There are no fixed rules, however, concerning admit -ance. The committee considers ach applicant separately. The failures for the fall term iveraged ten per cent of the total nrollment. Carolina Invited To Enter Exhibit Of State Art Works The university art department ias been notified by the Carolina irt association of the regulations ror the anuial state exhibition which will be held in Charleston %farch 2-31. The entries will be xhibited at the Gibbes Art Gal cry in Charleston. All resident artists of South carolina and South Carolina ar .ists living out of the state are sligible to enter p)aintings.
