By LAURIE MAY HERBERT
Well, as spring comes too close to our dear campus, wit
this "springy" weather, we find that new' is scarce, an
actual activity is even scarcer. But here goes, such as it ma
seem.
PINS, ENGAGEMENT RINGS, AND WEDDIN
BANDS have hit the headlines, per usual, with Ken Lelano
chairman of the honor board, and Jo Anne Coleman of LalI
City, a teacher at Kingstree, No. 1 on the list. Also "Weezie
Newman, Kappa Delta, has a Citadel miniature from B3
Turner, a lieutenant at The Citadel, from Columbia.
0
Dorothy Coe, Delta Zeta, and Tally Kelly, member of Delt
Sigma Pi, both of Columbia, were married Dec. 30 (1949
last 'year). Jean Sokol of Charleston, has accepted the claQ
ring of Sam Sorota, Phi Epsilon Pi. Jean is the "Sweetheaj
of Phi Epsilon Pi." Also Stan Pearlman, of Phi Epsilon P
has been going with Miss Sarah Karesh, of Charleston, an
rumors have it that they, too, are to be engaged soon.
NEWLY PINNED are Cameron Tood, Sigma Nu,,an
Betty Clarke, Pi Beta Phi. Carolyn Bynum, Kappa Delt
alumna from Darlington, received a diamond from Wyma
Platt, Kappa Alpha, of Columbia.
ANOTHER KAPPA ALPHA ALUMNUS, Harvey Shav
and Mamie Dowe, Delta Delta Delta alumna of Columbih
were married Saturday.
Bill Barrett, Phi Kappa Sigma, pinned Mary Lena M(
Cullohs, of Wesleyan College in Georgia. Jack Thompkini
Sigma Chi alumnus of Columbia, and Jeannie Macfie of CC
lumbia will iie the 'knot on Jan. 28.
AND ANOTHER SIGMA CHI, George Roth, exchanged a
engagement ring for his pin over the holidays. She's Mai
garet Tompkins of Columbia College.
THE NEWEST WEARER OF THE GOLDEN LAMP 0]
DELTA ZETA is Miss Betty Rowell of Columbia. Anna M(
Laughlin of Florence is the proud wearer of the Delta Zet
scholarship ring, awarded each semester to the pledge wit
the highest average.
DOWN AT MYRTLE BEACH OVER THE HOLIDAY|
were Bayard Pickett and Catherine Stone; Frank Owen an
Mush Sanders; Walter Keenan and Muff Jeffords; and Fran
Floys and Joy Van Keuren. They went down to Frank
house for a Sigma Nu houseparty.
MEMBERS OF SIGMA CHI AND THEIR DATES brave
the cold weather and went on a "boondocker" party out a
Sesqui park on Saturday night. Those who were les
courageous delighted in the warmer atmosphere of the Holl3
wood club.
Anne Davis, Pi Beta Phi, was visited by Beman Bunr
Phi Kappa Sigma alumnus, of Georgetown.

Lexington,
Monday night was just too delightful to pass up for
number of Sims residents and their men-folks, so the law
was the place for much fancy courtin' as soon as darknei
covered the couples. Enjoying the view were Nancy Hal
Andrea Chandler, Jackie Stukes, Pat Byrd, Janet Irwin, Jar
Dowe and Lucy Racheed. Due to conditions beyond mort
control at that time, however, none of the couples could 1
recognized from the third story window.
Regressing to childish games to occupy themr on their wi
from dinner, Jane Dowe, Andrea Chandler, and Marlene Ra
indulged in almost two hours of a new-type "guessing game
Tuesday afternoon. Guess what they were guessing! . . .
