Remember? By JOE MOLONY Remember the time you anxious ly waited and waited, pretending sleep, as the clock ticked away its minutes the night before Christ mas? You were six or seven, then. It was the biggest event in your life. You woke up at 5 o'clock Christ mas morning, peeked into the liv ing room and made a bee-line for your stocking, the smallest of the five. In it were apples, walnuts, pecans, marbles and other toys that held you spellbound. You played with them until six or seven when it was time to go to morning church. After church, the entire family, with the oldest at the fore, paraded into the guest room, where all the presents were spread out. For some strange reason, you knew which pile was yours. You said a silent prayer of thanks to Santa Claus for leaving you such nice things. And do you remember the day when the town bully came over to your house? It was a week after Christmas. Someone mentioned presents and you became excited. "Santa Claus left me a pair of skates, a wagon, a pair of gloves and some marbles" you proudly cried. The town bully sneered and said "there ain't no Santa Claus. Your father and mother gave you those presents." And he went into detail explaining the non-existence of St. Nick. The following day you saw your parents and asked them if the bully was right. The expres sions on their faces answered your question. You then became a man.
