Despite the bruising line play and vicious tackling in the Clem son struggle, the Birds came out of that game with no new -injuries and with the exception of fleet halfback Tommy Woodlee, they should be at top strength for the Terps. Terps Are Powerful However, it will take more than top strength to stop the powerful Maryland team according to Caro lina Coach Rex Enright. The Terps, who have lost only to the powerful Michigan State Spartans this season, have .one of the best offensive teams in the country, Enright said. "If we can't hold them and get our hands on the ball, I'm afraid of the outcome," the Gamecock mentor continued. Maryland, coached by Jim Ta tum, runs from a split "T" forma tion which is engineered by vet eran quarterback Joe Tucker. The other three members of the Terps all senior starting backfield are John Idzik and Joe Kuchta at half back, and Bob Roulette at full back. Hagan Stars The return to form of veteran quarterback Harold "Bo" Hagan in the Clemson game was heartening to Enright, and will boost the Birds chances of upsetting the Marylanders. Big tackle Vic Henrickson sat out the Clemson fray with an in jured knee, but he is expected to be ready to go tomorrow. His 215 pounds will bolster the Bird for ward wall which has shown much improvement in the last two games. Blackie Kincaid played the Clem son game' with a badly injured shoulder, but nevertheless, the West Virginia sophomore turned in a sparkling performance from his defensive halfback post. His shoulder has completely recovered during the past week. After the halftime intermission, the Birds completely outplayed the rigers in the second half. They racked up two fourth period scores, )ne on a forty yard pass from Ragan to end Jim Pinkerton and bhe other on a quarterback sneak by Hagan, to win 27-18. In addition to Hagan, the back field play and ball carrying of Bishop Strickland, Steve Wadiak, and Chuck Prezioso was excep. tionally good. Prezioso, reserve fullback, averaged 13.6 yards on five tries with the ball. He reeled off a 44-yard dash for the longest gain of the game the first time he carried the ball. In the line, the work of Red Wil son, Jim Pinkerton, the Skinner brothers Ben and Roy, Harry Jabbusch, Larry Smith, Cecil Woolbright, Bob Dockery, Dave Sparks, and others was excellent.
