Largest 1i Ends Aft4 By JACK MORGAN The largest intramural basket ball program ever held here was completed last Tuesday night after a month of heated competition. Thirty-three teams in five leagues played 186 games and only two NROTO in Independent league one and Sigma Alpha Epsilon in fra ternity league one-got through unbeaten. In the other three leagues two teams, each with a loss against them, tied for the league cham- I pionships. B. S. U. and Care- I vets tied in Independent league one with the same 5-1 record. The I same happened in Independent league two where Black Barons and Tenement 24% had identical 5-1 records. In fraternity league two, Lambda Chi Alpha and I Kappa Alpha ended the season j with four wins and one loss. ] The two undefeated teams won undisputed championships in their respective leagues. Sigma Alpha Epsilon won six games while los ing none in fraternity league two and NROTC won five without dropping any in Independent league three. The results in the final week of play are as follows Frosh Y (44) Tenement 14-30 (37) Freshman Y defeated Tenements 14-30, 44-37, March 9 in the field house. Ulmer was high scorer for the Y with 15 points while Ful mer got nine for the tenements. Tenement 25 (51) Newman Club (40) Tenement 25 beat the Newman Club, 51-40, March 9 in the field r house to take over undisputed pos session of second place in league 3. 1 Craig scored 15 points for Tene- ' ment 25 and L. Nine Gamecock errors coupled with 17 hits gave Newberry the victory. Fourteen walks helped the Indians along. The Lavalmen scored nine runs in a big sixth.in ning uprising. Jack Couch hit a home run in the sixth inning with none on and Newberry's Ross Horton got one in the same inning with one aboard. Red Cross Offers Instruction Course A water safety instructor's course will be offered by the Red Cross from March 21 to April 8 at the university pool, Marshall Upton announced. Upton will supervise instruction from March 21 to April 4, Mon days and Wednesdays at 7 p. m. The National Field Representative, Bill Fix, will hold them from April 4-8 each night at 7 o'clock. Fix will award certificates for water safety instructor to those who qualify. I-.
