CUPID'S ARROWS
It seems that Spring has brought, as always, the turn of
fancy to I-o-v-e. Have you heard that Tommy Griffin, Kappa
Sig, and Lib West of Marion are pinned? There are others,
too-Carolyn Sligh, Kappa Delt, is engaged to a Clemson
cadet named Archie Dargan; Gretchen Gayden, Chi 0 alum,
is wearing a diamond from Bill Dawson, KA; Pete Tapp,
Sigma Nu, recently pinned Betty Ross Hook of Columbia;
and Johnny Dixon, Kappa Sig will marry Laura Martin of
Marion in June. Carrie Alice Jenkins, -KD alum, is making
wedding plans for June 30. Dot Edmunds, Pi Phi alum, and
Don Grant, KA, will be married June 12. Another June wed
ding has been scheduled by Joy Conard, Chi 0, and Dick
Williamson, Sigma Chi. Joyce Shealy and Glenn Esdorn will
say their "I do's" in August.
EAT YOUR HAT
According to a filler used in a recent issue of the Ladies
Home Journal, the statement "I will eat my hat if-" does
not refer to the something you wear on your head but to
a culinary experiment which appeared ,in England many years
ago. It seems hats were made of eggs, veal, safron and a con
glomerated assortment. The dish never became popular, ex
cept as a term in a bet. The English gentleman declared
he would be brave enough to eat a hatte if he lqst a bet
and he didn't mean felt or straw.
SENTIMENTAL JOURNEYS

last weekend. Other KD's who went a'visiting were Carolyn
Sligh-also to Clemson and Archie; Jean Early, to Easley

see Earl Ellis, SAE.
