Try as he may, his desk drawers are always stacked full of unused features. His staff keeps them coming in, he keeps begging that they be printed, but what hap pens? Yes, it's that same old story. There is no room, or they just don't look like front page stuff. So the Feature Editor merely helps get the paper together, all the while hoping that at the last minute, they'll need just one little Zeature. Even that would give him and the members of his staff the Incentive to go on and keep plugging away. Finally, the end of the semester rolls around. The poor Feature Editor, with a huge smile of re lief, tur-ns over the reins to some poor, unsuspecting hopeful. Then the whole routine starts again. Block "C" Club Gives Informal Dance Carolina's Block "C" Club 'will hold a dance tomorrow evening from 8:30 to 11:30 in the Field House. [I~ Forma: MusIc Will B Woody Wood' Dr. Babcock Stages Mock English Class For University Hour The University Hour, a pro gram of the university presented by the faculty and students, had its final broadcast of the semes ter last week at 9:30 p. m. over station WCOS. The broadcast was made from the university chapel. Concluding the series was Doc tor Havilah Babcock, head of English department, and a mock session of his popular English 129, Vocabulary and Semantics, class. Students from both sections of the English 129 classes par ticipated in the program which was conducted in regular class room manner. Elizabeth Stewart, senior from Columbia, opened the program by playing a piano selection, themes and variations from Schumann's "Sonata in F Minor." Dr. Bab cock then called the class to or der with his usual cheery "good morning." The students were seated in round-table style and Dr. Babcock began at one point in the circle and questioned each in turn. The students taking part in the mock class were, in order of their position at the table. Dora Mae Shaw, Norma Manini, Don Bar ton, Allen B. Harman, Hugh Sim rell, Ryan Scott, Rod Culbertson, Roy Young, June Mindell, Osborne Gomez, and Angela Barrington. Mary McQueen Elected New President Of CCSC Mary McQueen was elected president of the Carolina Chris tian Service Club at a recent meeting. Other officers are Cyrus Shealy, Jessie Phasey, and Jane Dowe, vice presidents; and Mary Ellen Coker, secretary. These new officers were in Gaar SS o0r Cfmarl Clo4ies . . . for the sea-goi IN COLUMDIA IT'S Ya'S Three May 9 e Presenied By ard's Orchestra The South Carolina Delta chap ter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon will present its spring formal on May 9 in the ballroom of the Jeffer son hotel from 9 p. m. until 1 a. n. Woody Woodward and his orchestra will provide the music for the affair. A grand march will be held during the dance at which time a small bridge will be used for all participants to walk over. There will be four no-breaks during the dance and one special number for the members of the fraternity and their dates. Two drop-ins will be given for Sigma Alpha Epsilons and their guests, the first of which will be before the dance and will be at the home of Joe Caughman, presi dent of the fraternity. Tentative plans for decorations include the use of Spanish moss draped over the ceiling of the ballroom. The Greek fraternity letters made of silver material, will be placed behind the or chestra.
