Page Six SPOR TORAMA By DON BARTON COURTIN' TIME The tennis court situation is definitely improving. At thorities have finally gotten together and pushed the bul tons to start work on the campus courts and the six in Maxc Gregg Park. The tennis team will play their matches on the campt courts and give the students a chance to see the racqueteel in action. An effort will be made to get a small bleacher se tion for spectators. That is the way it should be; it's on natural for students to want to watch their athletic tear perforin. Getting back to the courts-students should show the appreciation for having the courts maintained properly I cooperating with those in charge. A schedule of hours that the courts may be used will published. Courts will be available all but a few hours the day, at which time tennis classes, team practice, a intramural playoffs will be in progress. Rules for using the courts should be followed to the leti They are purely obvious measures to protect the court, really shouldn't be necessary to post these rules, but I sons are forgetful at times. BE IN THE KNOW The BAM club recently had schedules of four varn sports printed-golf, baseball, tennis, and track. These w put in the post office box of each student. This was a I effort toward promoting greater interest in athletics Carolina. May we suggest that you keep these schedules in obvious place; for instance, stick it in the corner of a mb in your room. All of us sneak a glance that way many til a day. Check these schedules for playing dates of the vari teams and if you are unable to attend the event, ple; take time to find out the result of the game. It's a si courtesy to those who are giving up their time to repres the school. It is discouraging to mention one of these meetings I student and get the reply, "What game ?" As an exam after listening to the Duke-South Carolina Southern ( ference tourney basketball game, your writer and a collea were floating across the campus in the direction of Gamecock office. On the way we met a prominent stud who, incidentally, was active in the Boosters Club. shouted to the student in jovial tones that we had won game. The response was a confused look and the questio who we played in what. It takes less than sixty seconds to look at a schedule find out WHO WE'RE PLAYING IN WHAT ! No more* than that is required to find the result. Carolina is making an effort to rise to unprecede heights in athletics. Student interest and cooperation i important factor in helping her to reach this goal. OUR GUESTS The Duke and Michigan State baseball teams will bi guests of the University next week. While the GameE will try their darndest to make life miserable for the vis on the diamond, the student body should make an effe show true hospitality to representatives of these two sel Any sorority, fraternity, or other organization that i give some form of entertainment for the visiting team i be doing a commendable service in making their sti Carolina more pleasant. This would leave a favorabl< pression on the minds of Duke and Michigan State stu and elevate Carolina in the eyes of outsiders. Maybe this couldn't be arranged if the games are p at night, but it is a suggestion.
