McDonald Osborne, Lisbeth Wolfe re'presenative who has been giving a series of lectures here or personality and cosmetics for the; last two days. These lectures have been given in connection with the Co-ed Association of the Univer sity of South Carolina. Last night Miss Osborne, consult ant on personal development for the Dorothy Gray Laboratories, spoke in the PI Phi room in Sims at 7:30 p. m. on "How to Achieve the Right Look." She emphasized good grooming habits, giving point ers on the care of the skin, hair. and clothes, the importance of the care of the body and the necessity of good posture. In conclusion she discussed the importance of skill fully applied make-up as an aid to attaining the right look. Monday night at 7:30 p. m. Miss Osborne gave a lecture in the Uni versity chapel. Her topic for the evening was "The Impression We Leave." She 4lscussed t4ie make-up of a pleasing voice, the correct way to stand and sit, and the way halt should be styled in relative to the shape, etc.. of the face. Besides the two scheduled lectures, Miss Os borne has given lectures to the In dependents and some of the sorori ties on the campus. COTTONS From WITH A DROP OF WOOD HUE Page Five Formal Roy Neal And Orchestra Play For Dance Pin Favors Given Members' Dates The Delta chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity of the University of South Carolina campus entertained with its White Rose formal in the ballroom of the Hotel Columbia Friday evening, Feb. 1, from 9 to 1. Music was furnished by Roy Neal and his Carolina Cavaliers. Officers of Sigma Nu and their sponsors are Bryant Meeks, presi ,dent, with Jackie Grliffis; Fred Rue ber, vice-president, with Sara Cline; Joe McReynolds, secretary, with Mary Bob Hall; Jim Lytle, treasurer, with Patty Hoover, and Bart Monroe, pledgemaster, with Bo-tty Dillard. This dance. Sigma Nu's first nince the war's ending, highlighted a month of dances for the University, heginning with the German Club formal, and followed by the Cotil lion Club and Delta-Delta-Delta sorority dances. The dates of the members wore corsages of white roses and were presnted with pin favors during the grand march. Decorations were black and gold in their motif. Streamers hanging from the chandeliers to the walls formed a canopy over the ballroom floor. The bandstand was backed with a black backdrop bordered with two gold stripes and the Sigma Nu neon sign was centered on the backdrop. At the opposite end of the dance floor a placard of the fraternity badge was centered on a similar backdrop. A rotating dome reflector lighted the ballroom floor. AE Phi Wins Cup For Scholarship Pan lellenic announced at a meeting on January 18 that the Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority won 1e cup for the highest scholastic aveN age for the past year, 1944-45. The AE Phi average was 1.9. The presentation of this cup was revised last year. It is passed from sorority to sorority each year and if one sorority keeps the cup for thice consecutive years, the cup re mains with that sorority and an. other cup must be obtained.
