ODK Will Elect New Members
Jan. 17; Point List Published
Chi Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa will hold its elections of
the winter semester on Thursday, January 17. Tapping of the
chosen members will follow shortly. President Reece Smith asks
that all men, who are interested and eligible for consideration
under the point system, found elsewhere in this issue, submit
to any ODK member or Box 2148 their application with a list
of their points.
Omicron Delta Kappa, National Leadership Honor Society
for men, was founded in 1814 at Washington and Lee University,
and has circles in leading American colleges and universities.
The society was established to recognize achievement in five
phases of campus life: scholarship, athletics, social and religions
affairs, publications, speech, music, and dramatic arts. Qual
fications for membership are: character, scholarship and intelli
gence, service and leadership in campus life, fellowship and
consecration to democratic ideals.
The rise and development of Omicron Delta Kappa was occa
sioned by the belief among members of the student body and
faculty of Washington and Lee University that all-round leader
ship in college should be recognized, that representative ien in
all phases of college should cooperate in worthwhile endeavor,
and that outstanding students and faculty members should
meet on a basis of mutual interest and understanding.
