Football season is just around the corner and the athletic cards that admit students to the home games for this se mester have not been issued. There are about 360 of these cards for students who have paid their student activity fee. These cards are now available and will continue to be available until September 15. They may be obtained from the Athletic Office in the rear of the Natatorium from 9 a. m. to 1 p. m. each dlay. The above cards are for civilian students only. Navy stu dents will be issued cards later. F. E. Cannon, Acting Athletic Director, has announced that even if one of these cards is lost or stolen, no dupli cation can be made, and admittance this year will be by card only. But before we go into this, let's ive a look at the athletic expe oic t he coach ha., piled up. It all arted when he enrolled in Lanier igh School, in Macon, Ga. He arted out by winning a letter in iseball, another i, basketball, and ided up by walking off with four tiers in football. After serving as guard for three years of his high ,hool career. Shi shifted to the nter position and was named to te All-Georgia Interscholastic AA nd All-Southern teams in this po tion in 1930. After completing igh school, Shi attended Georgia lilitary College foi a year. and ~k ,-bie thfre played football, base >all and basketball. Allvn Shi entered the University )f Georgia as a freshman in 1932, ird aftr one year of freshman >ot all, played three years of var -:Y hall In D:1 he made a place or hin.-!! as tackle on the All Southeastern team. While at Geor 4-.a. Si taight for the Bulldog naseball team, was a member of the "G" Clu. and a member of the National Athletic Association. When he left Georgia in June, 19;6. Shi's coaching career began. IHis first position was at a high s(1 iw in Alabama. where he re mained for a year. He returned to Georgia in 1 and coached at De catur High School for two years and then one year at West Fulton H-1. S. The next fvf y ears were spent at Tech HiL;h, in Atlanta, wvhere he served as head coach for ur years prior to corning to Caiu ina. Dring;. his stay at Tech, Shi uried out many sufcessful teams, *n all fields of sports. Coach Shi seems to think that he Ganecock line is better this ,eai than in n'-wy seasous. and we el t hat h, .iudgmnent should he tey sound.
