Kennedy%, wife of Captain Kennedy, new com Mander of the University N.R.O.T.C. unit. Mrs. Kennedy and her son. Rich ard, have been on two tours with Captain Kennedy to the Hawaiian Islands. The first visit was from 1932 until 1936. Her second visit proved to be highly exciting for it was from 1940 until after the bomb ing of Pearl Harbor. They were living in the city at the time, and although the bomb ing was very neat-, they were un touched, related Mrs. Kennedy. The following March th.ey were evacual ed to Los Angeles where they have been for the past three years. Judging from M-s. Kennedy's choice of schools -- Kansas City Teachers College, University of Wis consin, and the Wniversily of Call foinia--she enjoyed traveling and a change of scenery before she be came a Navy wife. Mrs. Kennedy expressed her de sire to get to know the Carolina students as soon as possible. Captain and Mrs. Kennedy and son are residing at 116 South Pick ens street here in Columbia. Cheerleaders Practice For Big Season R1164kely,. ; ;, .E e , rack, clickey, clickety, clickety, clack Now, Tiger, how many times have I told you not to swing your hips that way" Ned, aren't you ever going to learn Ihat it's your left knee not your right? These are familiar sounds to most of us pass ing Gibbes Green around 4 p.m. most any afternoon. Carolina's cheer leaders--Jim Everett, Ned Hance. Tiger Adams, Becky Mahry, and Gretchen Gayden, under the patient supervision of Jo Seidman, are the cause of so much confusion and so many laughs. Who ever heard of cheerleaders jumping around in weather like this'? But it's true. It takes lots of time and hard practice to get them all together on the cheers. They are gelting into the swing of things already, even though it's some time yet before lie big game of the year. Looks like t hi.s year's crop of ce'erleaders is going to uphlold thte good old Carolina spitrit in tradi tional sityle and send our team on to ''ied hot'' victoiy.
