House of Representatives from Darlington Coun ty, was recently elected by the joint General As sembly as judge of the Fourth Ju dicial Circuit, succeeding to the unexpired term of Judge E. C. Dennis, retired. Lewis, elected without opposition, was a member of the S. C. State Highway Commission from 1936 to 1940. lie served as a member of the House of Representatives in 1935 36, and was re-elected in 1943, but resigned to enter the armed forces. In the campaign of 1944, Lewis, then a private in the arm., was again elected to the House. As a student in the University, Judge-elect Lewis was a member of the Clariosophic Literary society, Kappa Sigma Kap pa and Omicron Delta Kappa. Capt. Elwyn Conway Knight, '38A, of Lancaster, has returned to the States after having flown 35 com bat missions as pilot of a B-17 Flying Fortress in the European theater, for which he was award ed the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters.
