To get the college gals' loose change where it will do most good right now, the Treasury has cooked up "Outfit the Outfit" as a special theme for women's schools. The Treasury hopes to boost sales of war savings stamps. by linking them with clothing and equipment purchases for the armed forces. For the $1.05 a whimsical lapel pin would cost, for instance, the U. S. can buy a soldier's steel helmet. A quarter diverted from the movies to war stamps will buy a first aid pouch. A ten-dollar dress is worth an army woolen overcoat and, a six-dollar sweater is worlh a field jacket. University law school stu dents went out en mass last week to champion the cause of justice before the city magis trate's court in a legal action to secure compensation for a lady's missing skirt. The skirt, for which the five legal counsels headed by Jim Guest asked $24, was placed in a city dry cleaning company to be cleaned and placed for storage in a moth proof bag; however, when the bag was opened, the plaintiff declared, not only had the moths been kept out, but the skirt itself had been excluded. Miss Mary Frances Land, the owner of the missing gar ment, then appealed to the law students w%ho were permitted to try the case in Magistrate X. H. Thompson's Court by spe cial permission. Jim Guest, chief counsel for the plaintiff, pointed out that "We are going to give our client every protection guar anteed her by law," and with the help of his four assistants, Isadore Bernstein, Billy Nichol son, Felix Finley and James A. Tomlinson, he set out to do so. Counsel for the defense was veteran attorney John E. Edens who was repeatedly cautioned by the law school students to stick to the subject in the case. Combining their knowledge of legal procedure and supple menting it by whispered con packed court room, the five forences with the law-student temporary bar members man aged to object continuously to the questions of the defense counsel.
