That last minute comeback against the Ramblin' Wrecks was as sensational an ex hibition of ring hitting as the Thompson boy's feats. Lanny Lof dahl's performances in the Maryland and Clemson battles were noth ing short of magnificent. The Whirling Derv just couldn't be stopped. * * * * * BOXING-The Southern Conference of course was the classiest thing this side of Mason and Dixon's ancient demarcation. Clemson took just about everything, but who could overlook Sol Blatt's dark horse ride through the toughest competition in the 135 pound class to that last minute knockout of Maryland's Askin, and Olin McDonald's bloody trail through the 120 pound class. * * * * * BASEBALL-Without a doubt, the Clemson game on Melton Field was the best exhibition. The Birds went to pieces in the eighth, but that last inning comeback was beautiful to see, even if it did fall one run short. * * * * * TRACK-The dual meet with Clemson was tops. Little and Mc Fadden had it out, with the Tiger and injury coming out on top. Little's exhibition of courage and stamina was the outstanding track performance in the state. * * * * * TENNIS-Who can doubt that the Clemson victory was our greatest accomplishment of the entire year? Sara Rushton showed the male sex how it is done, and proved there is nothing to the ancient Tiger jinx. * * * * * GOLF-Creason says the matches with Augusta Junior College were the best of the year, but that tie with Citadel was the top per formance frorn-the Gamecock standpoint. Sure-the Birds tied the state champs. * SUMMER WORK?0 Select college men in various localities for profitable healthy outside employment. Free course in salesmanship.
