Another Carolina undergraduate, Ed McGrath, is playing a supporting role in the same play. Written by Thomas Buchanan in 1909, the play was meant to be a ve hicle for the vivacious Grace George, then the actress idol of New York and Chicago. The play is not a dated comedy, however, and has been brought up to date for the two stars, by Glick. Hester will play opposite Mabel Kalmakoff, veteran leading lady, and will be playing his first sophisticated comedy role of the year. Hester's last performance was that of the drunkard in the play by that name. --n. U. 0. Babcock Speaks Dr. Havilah Babcock, professor of English at the University of South Carolina, will deliver the ommencement address at Pinewood high school Monday, May 29, at 8:15 p. m. The salutatory will be given by Edith Ardis, the presi dent's address by Calhoun Aycock and the valedictory by Bettie Tindal. The commencement exercises will start Friday morning with the seventh grade class program. Fri day evening the primary grades will present an operetta. Non-de-Script is the only tea dance organization at the University of South Carolina. It has a limited membership of thirty girls. The spring tea dance will be held Friday. May 19, from 6 to 8 p. m., im mediately before the Damas Spring Formal. Miss Hunt succeeds Harriett Mc Brayer as chairman. There will be four no-breaks and a special for the fellows who are for tunate enough to be taking one of the )arlings. The special no-break comes right after the Junior-Senior figure, which is to be led by Frances Smith and Bess Dowling. Flossie Simpson, chairman of the dance committee, (lid a nifty job on the decorations for the place; it's all fixed up like a spring country gar den. larriet McBrayer, president of Damas, with her date, will lead the Grand March. She will be assisted by the other officers of the club, who arc: Katie Toal, vice-president; Mar garet Mitchum, secretary; Nancy Childs, treasurer; Frances Smith, senior leader: Bess Dowling, junior leader; and last but not least, Flos sie Simpson, chairman of the dance committee. Damas is a local dance organiza tion, made up of members from so rority and non-sorority groups. The club gives two formal dances yearly, one in early winter, and the other in the spring. BIEN!
