It is not known as yet whether Patrick will be able to report in time for spring prac tice as he is finishing his studies in June. It is rumored that he is seeking a month's leave from the school to come to early training in this camp. Ted Petoskey, frosh coach and basket ball mentor, was raised to an assistant coach as well as his continued duties as cage coach with an increase in salary of $200, raising his pay to $1,400. A line coach was not selected but the power to hire one was given to the same committee in conjunction with Coach Don McCallister. It is under stood that the Board's action in sending Coach McCallister and Director Harth to the National Coaches Meeting in New Orleans on December 28 was for the pur pose of interviewing likely candidates for the line position. Besides the $5,000, the Board of Y Trustees must give their approval to this construction. BOARD WANTS MONEY At the meeting of the University Board of Trustees December 8, President McKissick presented data compiled by Professor R. L. Sumwalt of the School of Engineering as to the cost of mainte nance of swimming pools at several institutions in South Carolina and elsewhere, and as to the probable cost of maintaining a pool at the University. The estimated annual cost is $?,994. It was the sense of the Board that a swimming 1)001 should not be constructed until money is on hand to pay the amount required from the University as sponsor. It was moved and carried that the matter of the swimming 1)001 be referred to the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees with power to act, with the expression of the Board that construc tion of a pool be undertaken only if and when the University has the money necessary for its contribution to construction of the pool. This Board will meet to take definite and final action next week accorling to an announcement by President McKissick a few min utes before this paper went to press.
