Excursi "Big Apple" Train For Orangeburg $1.50 ROUND TRIP Scrubbs Hope Announces Plana For Special Train To Orange b rg; Lead Auburn Trip Plans have been completed for Caro lina's first "Big Apple" excursion train which leaves for the Citadel-Carolina classic at Orangeburg on Friday, October 29. "The special train will become a fact this Thursday should 250 students ex press their desire to use this mode of travel," states Scruggs Hope, alumnus interested and in charge of this project. A book will be put in the canteen on October 22 for students interested to sign. Athletic books are good for admission to this game and a free dinner will be served to the Carolina students on the fair grounds at 12 o'clock, noon. Tickets for the excursion will be on sale at the Gamecock Pressing club, be hind the canteen, on Tuesday, Wednes day, and Thursday, October 26, 27, and 28 from two to five o'clock daily. The price will be $1.50 for the round trip. The University Band will accompany the students on this trip and plan to "Big Apple" all the way. The train leaves Columbia at 8:25 A. M. and ar rives in Orangeburg at 9:57. Coming home, the train leaves Orangeburg at 7:45, reaching Columbia at 9:30. Expected to bolster the attendance at the game is the surprising upset handed to Furman by the Citadel Bulldogs last Saturday, Scruggs Hope, who is spon soring the excursion and was in charge of the last Carolina excursion train back in 1935 when the Gamecocks met Auburn in Birmingham, says that if not enough students sign up for the trip, he will charter just enough coaches on the reg ular train to get those signing there. A tea dance will be held in Orange burg in honor of the University students and the cadets before the train returns to Columbia.
