Fisher Directs Music Program For Blind Celebration Student Placed In Charge Of Musical Program During Edu cation Week For Blind Mr. Billy Fisher, blind student at the University of South Carolina, has been in charge of the musical programs at the entertainments being offered by the blind people of Columbia in celebration of the Educational Week for the Blind. Since becoming blind, he has learned to play the accordion, and he contributed much to the entertainment by the blind. At present, Billy Fisher is busy try ing to pass a Bill through the South Carolina Legislature to give the blind more money to support better conditions in furthering the work of the blind. Mr. Fisher owns one of the rare "See ing Eye" dogs, and he says that it takes four years to train a man to be able to teach the dog what to do, then the dog must be trained for two years. The prospective owner of the dog must have one especially suited to his personality, and must take voice lessons to know how to speak to the dog. --. N. . Collegiate Review Motley Professor E. T. Motley, dean of the school of Pharmacy, has been appointed chairman of the committee on Relations of Boards and Colleges of the American Association of colleges of pharmacy for the third district, embracing seven states and the island of Porto Rica. Professor Motley has also been made a member of the pharmacy association's auxiliary committee on food and drug legislation. In this capacity he repre sents the State of South Carolina. As chairman of the committee on re lation of boards and colleges, Professor Motley says that tentative plans are now being made for a meeting in April of state boards and colleges of pharmacy in the third district. Definite plans, he said, will be announced later. The University's 'school of pharmacy is one of 54 in the United States holding membership in the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. The third dis trict comprises the states of South Caro lina, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, and the possession of Porto Rica. Maps Under the direction of Miss Edna Ken nedy, map specialist of Asheville, N. C., early Carolina maps in the South Caro lina room at the University Library are being repaired and catalogued. Miss Kennedy estimates that the work will be completed in about a year. When the cataloguing is completed, the maps will be much more accessible to research workers. During the past few years the South Carolina room has been the center of research work by students of almost -every college in the twvo Carolinas. -Athletic Night (CONTINUED PROM PAGE ONE) due to lack of finances at the University, but the Boosters club and other organ izations are trying to raise funds. Coach D)e Mars has been hampered in the last fewv seasons b)y lack of material, but at last has succeededl in putting the Gamecock team on the winning side of the ledger. Representatives from the Boosters club, Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary, Civitan and Exchange organizations have at tendled two meetings this week to adopt plans and raise the money. If the money is raised, the boxers will leave on March 26 by train, Mr. llarth pointedl out. The University band, comedy skits, and other features will be included in the "Athletic Night" program this week when final arrangements are completed.
