McCallister
In reviewing the past season Coach
Don McCallister says he believes that
there is a need for some changes in
the rules. Outstanding among them
is the fumble rule. Under the present
ruling, if the offense fumbles the ball
and recovers it over the goal' line, it
is scored as a touchdown. As a result
of this, many teams have conspired to
have the ball-carrier fumble on the
fourth down if he sees that he will not
be able to reach the end zone.

Because of the overwhelming popu

After this new sport has taken a

Carolina's opponents in this game
have just ordinary ability physically,
but they make up for it with their
fighting spirit and ability to outcharge
and outplay their opponents, accord

scouted them recently.
Because of this Coach Don McCal
lister has sought to build up the morale
of the team in practice this week and
according to him, the men are in the
best spirits possible.
"We will go into this game very
anxious to win it and end our season

me playing in Miami. It will take good
football to beat the University of
Miami, but I believe the boys are pre

season against them," Coach McCal

Carolina's starting lineup will be

Carolina's cage squad will begin its
season next week when it plays Ers
kine in Due West, on December 14.
The basketeers, under the direction
of Coach Ted Petoskey, began practice
the middle of November, with several
new men out for the squad. The ranks
of the team are expected to be further
filled when football season is over and
more athletes are available.
Coach Petoskey has been giving the
team intensive training at the night
practices. For the first week or two
the team was busy learning and prac
ticidg the fundamentals of the gamie,
but now the teami has been drilling on
particular plays and practicing them in
scrimmage. The team uses a fast
breaking offense and a man-to-man de
fense.
Several freshman players have been
working out with the varsity squad in
order to be in shape if plans for a
freshman team materialize. Gene Alex
ander and T. C. Pack, erstwhile fresh
mnan football players, are among the
freshmen who show promise.

Wagener Talks
To Tennis Club
"A chain is as strong as its weakest
link and a tennis player is as strong
as his weakest stroke," said Professor
"Dutch" Wagener at a recent meeting
of the Columbia Women's Tennis Club.
"To be good, a player must have a
good lob, volley, and chop strokes to
go along with his ground strokes. A -
player should develop good strokes
and then learn to put them to the best
advantage," he said.
"The chief trouble that I have
noticed among women players is their
inefficiency at the net. If women
would learn to put balls away by an
gling them off and by use of the over
head smash they would develop into
much better players."
"Look your opponent over and size
her up when you walk on the court and
then play her accordingly," he said in
closing.
