Over 200 high school coaches have been extended invitations and many textile and college cage men tors will also be present. The public is invited to attend the ex hibitions of Taylor who is a former member of the famous New York Cel tics. This coach is recognized as one of the best basketball handlers and teach ers of fundamental basketball in the ] country. Demonstrations on how to pass and catch the ball, exercises for developing the technique of this part of the game and fundamentals of all types of defense ' will be stressed. Basket shooting and screen plays will also receive attention. i Taylor's central theme is simplicity p and fundamentals. He will demonstrate I personally the effectiveness of these A methods. The absence of "lost motion" and puzzling passes will be the special I features of Taylor's exhibition. "Chuck" comes to Carolina with high v recommendations from coaches of basket- v ball at the Univ. of Utah, Nebraska, i Rice, and Wisconsin and other leading I schools throughout the United States. F The keynote of the whole clinic is s conservation of energy, regardless of the i system of basketball played, and as is I stressed by so many coaches, these fun- i damentals in no way disrupt or interfere J with any coaching systcm.a Blackie Carter, famed textile referee, will give an explanation of the new 1935-36 basketball rules. Wrestling Class Coached By Pauly All Students Eligible Under the hands of Coach Frank Pauly, approximately 30 men are now learning the technique of wrestling. Daily practice is held in the gymnasium. Any student interested in wrestling is ) invited to enter these classes. Its pri- y mary purpose is to train football players, but it is open to the entire student body. There will be no inter-collegiate matches. This is entirely a Carolina affair with the object of training and exercising the students. No definite r plans have been made toward having wrestling as an intra-mural sport but it may be included as one later. There will be no awards or letters given and the contestants wvill have to furnish their own equipment. "\Vrestling is one of the best forms of exercise linemen can indulge in to keep in conditiot.. It -teaches them to he quick, u'se their hands, balance, and buildsI up arm and leg nmuscles. In other words, it is a body builder." Coach Pauly said. The team will be run under the rules of the Southern Conference. There will be no faking or hoodlum wrestling as in professional fights. It is for exercise and pleasure and will be no rougher than a hard football game. Classes are now held in the Gynasium but may he moved to the field house be cause of overcrowded conditions. After a scoreless first half in which Carolina did more than hold their ground, they seemed to wither under the hQt Florida sun, and the University of Florida rode over them mercilessly. The scoring started following a beauti ful side-stepping, twisting, and speedy dash down the field by Jones, Gator halfback early in the third quarter to Carolina's 22 yard line. Then a first down put the ball in scoring position and Hendricks stepped across the line. The try for extra failed. The fourth quarter saw a concentrated drive down the gridiron by the Gators that culminated in a touchdown and was followed by the conversion of the extra. The next score came as a result of a blocked punt by Florida, which was converted into a safety. Again a Carolina punt was blocked in the closing minutes of the game, and Burroughs scooped it up and ran the remaining distance for a score. The try by Hughes for the extra point was good and Lided the scoring for the day. Carolina's otfensive star was Jack Lyon, diminutive back, who gained the amazing total of 102 yards from scrim mage. He broke through the Gator line H several occasions and had to be stopped by the secondary. Besides his great offensive game, Lyon was a potent factor in the Gamecock defense. This was the eighth meeting of these two elevens but was the first meeting since 1929 when- the Birds were defeated by appproximately the same score, 20 to U. This game marked the end of Caro lina's 1935 grid season and the final game for 6 seniors. Wilburn Clary, who played a few minutes in the early portion of the game and who has been Carolina's big triple threat back this season, ended his Caro lina gridiron carcer. Captain Bud Alexander and other grad uating seniors all saw action in this game, the last of their football career.
