The various types of work which are being done are paper grading, as sisting in the library, and assisting in laboratories. Three interesting projects which'are under consideration this year are a - school at the state penitentiary taught by N. Y. A. students, a club program for underprivileged- boys under the auspices of the city Y. M. C. A. and operated by a group of N. Y. A. boys, and the Wesley House project. According to regulations adopted by the committee, no student holding a N. Y. A. appointment can be affiliated with a fraternity if the affiliation .in volves any expense to either himself or his relatives. -.v. ". 0. Council Holds First Meet The Methodist Student Council of the Washington Street Methodist church held its first meeting last Thursday night, September 19. Plans for the year were discussed and it was decided to have the annual re ception Friday night, Sep>tember 27. James F. Walsh, president of the council, re4uests all Methodist stu dents to come to Washington Street Methodist church next Sunday after noon at 8:45 o'clock, at which time a dramatic club known as the Wesley Players will be organized. Roberts Returns " To University Makes Excellent Record Law Professor Was Brilliant Student While Attending Columbia University Professor Carlisle Roberts has re turned to the University to continue his work as professor of law. Mr. Roberts was connected with the law school during the school years ending 1932 and 1933, but was given a year's leave of absence in order that he might take advantage of a scholarship offered him at Columbia University. While at Columbia he made one of the most excellent records ever made at that University. Professor Roberts was given several offers at other univer sities but preferred to return here be! cause this was his Alma Mater and because Columbia has always been his home. -.. U. C. Miss Anderson New Librarian Miss Sallie B. Anderson, who has been assisting in the South Carolina room at the library, has been tempo rarily placed in charge of the depart. mental libraries to succeed Mrs. Cora Huggins Johnson, forced to resign be cause of ill health. Miss Anderson for the past two summers has been studying Library Science at Columbia University. She has two more summers yet. Mrs. Johnson is a trained graduate librarian and not only did cataloguing for all the departments but assisted Mr. Kennedy with his library classes, giving two courses each year. Another trained' librarian will be found to succeed Mrs. Johnson' next year but .in the meantime "the worls will noi suffer in the hands of Miss Anderson," according to Mr. Ken. nedy. School Of Social Work Continued This Year The School of Social Work which1 was established last year at the Uni versity is being continued,. although it is not definitely known whether federal aid will be secured.
