After several weeks of irregular
practice, the spring training season in
basketball will reach its conclusion
next week according to Coach (Rock)
Norman.
The team is reported to have shown
steady improvement, and with the few
regulars back from this year's squad
coupled with new aspirants, the team
should be whipped into good shape
when the season opens next year.
Twenty men have turned out for the
spring practices and an even larger
squad is expected when the other athletic
seasons end. The schedule for
next year will not be as hard as this
years and not as many trips will he
mH made.

To Report Before Training
Season Ends
Under the joint tutorship of Frankie
DcMars and Rex Williams an unofficial
spring training session in boxing
is being carried on three times a week
in the University gym. It has been in
process for some weeks, some of the
boys continuing their training begun
during intramural boxing.
Including Rex Williams, the boys
out for this training are James Ackerman,
John Haskell, Martin, W. W.
Hunter, Dave Galloway, McCormick,
and Joe Claffy. According to Frankie DeMars
there are several boys who are "
not out that should be. He is wondering
where they are and would like to
see them out again. Their names are
Dan McCloud and Mackic Mills.
" 1 hese boys have shown much improvement
in the last few weeks,"
stated Coach DeMars. He also said
that more men are desired to come out;
and said that there is but one qualification
necessary to be among this
group; apparent interest and the desire
to work in harmony with the coach
and the rest of the class.

t A new precedent will be set at the
University of South Carolina today at
1 3:00 P. M. when the Freshman and
Sophomore classes hold their annual
Hag Rush. This is the first of these
events ever to be held at the Univeri
sity and it is hoped that it will be an
s annual affair. It is being held under i
the auspices of the Block C Club of
: the University and Juniors and Seniors
of the Block C Club will act as referees
of the match.
> The event will take place at 3:00 P.

fore the presentation of the pictures of

ing events of High School Day and the
public is cordially invited to attend*
. there will be 110 admission charge. The
event has been organized under the direction
of Coach Pauly.
All Sophomores will meet at the
: north end of Melton field and all
' Freshmen at the South end of the field
' at 2:30 p- M- to receive identification
. markings. The president of the Fresh;
111311 c,ass challenged the Sophomore
class, and the challenge was joyfully
; accepted. Five bags will be on the
: field and the Freshmen will endeavor
1 to take the bags across one of the
goal lines. If they succeed in doing
this, the Sophomores will have to roll
their pants legs up and wear them so
all of Saturday as an act of humiliation
5 at being downed by the Freshmen. If
t the Sophomores move the bags across
. the breshman must bear the sign of
, humiliation. The members of the Block
? ^ Club will be present to sec that
there is 110 unfairness, also that no one
enters the struggle unless they arc
: marked with paint. The Freshmen
2 will be marked with green paint and
b the Sophomores with red paint; the
paint being washable. There will be
no water on the field. All participants
are urged to wear old clothes.
I he 1< reshmcn now plan in silent determination
to give the Sophomores
the beating of their lives. It is their
chance to get back at the Sophomores
for their advantage in years in school.
The Sophomores are quite confident
they can take the Freshmen any day?
why I one Sophomore could just about
