SHEPHERD USES ANCIENT TONGUE Euphradian Debates In Latin; Honor System Discussed Shades of Mark Antony and other Roman orators haunted the Euphradian literary society at its last meeting, when Lawrence Case, an expresident, moved that the Latin word be struck from the program. This was done in spite of the fact that there was no Latin word in the program. The president being in doubt as to which word was referred to, a long argument ensued. President S. E. Brown dccided that "extemporaneous" was the offending term, but a wonderful defense delivered in Latin by M. H. Shepherd, supported by the weighty arguments of R. H. Atkinson, saved the word from a fate of obscurity. The prosecution was led by Leonard Williamson, John M. Younginer and Frank Taylor. A debate from the house was had on the subject of the honor system as applied to the University. A motion that the society favor the honor system as proposed was passed.
