Reorganization of Curriculum The most important change in the reorganization of the curriculum is that the total number of hours required for both the A. B. and li. S. degrees has been reduced from 137 to 127. For the A. B. degree three hours of mathematics, now required in the sophomore year, arc omitted. For the B. S. degree six hours of history, now required in the sophomore year, are also omitted. In general the new scheme provides for emphazing the difference between the first two years in college, which arc sometimes known as the lower division, and the last two years, which arc known as the upper division. A definite prescribed course of study is outlined for both the A. B. and B. S. degrees in the first two years, and during the last two years greater concentration and specialization are attained by the'following requirement: At the beginning of the junior year the candidate shall selcct a department from the language group, the social science group, or the physical science group as a major field of study and another department as his minor field of study.
