Two balls, two strikes on the bat
ter. The game is the annual contest
between the faculty and the stupid
body.
Craig is pitching for the stupid body
and when the Yellow Sheet goes to
press, he has absolute control on his
balls.
In the first stanza, Moore for the
faculty gets a homer with the bases
and the faculty full. In the second
frame however, the stupid body comes
back to even the score when Blood
Hildebrand gets to first on a pass
from Frierson (the first time this has
happened.)
Karesh gets on third and debates
whether to steal home and is put out
on a withdrawal from Baker. Douglas
the white hope of the instructors, put
Karesh out when he gets Craig's ball
in time.
The game was nearly broken up in
the eighth frame when McKissick, the
skinny catcher for the faculty stops
the game, sayitig that Baker is pitch
ing too hard and that his balls are too
hot to hold.
The end camue in the ninth, as it usu
ally does. Baker was, on third with
Moore on second. Craig is still pitch
ing for the stupid body. The score is
3 all. Brode come to bat for the fac
ulty. Craig winds up and when last
seen, the ball was going somewhere in
the proximity of Casey. The faculty
wis when Moore steals home, but
Pritchard objects, saying that it's
again' the Honor system to steal any
thing.

Eddie Pritchard our hero "from
down on the Battery" who has distin
guished himself in almost every form
of activity has become supreme mon
arch of the campus.
Having come to terms with Joe
Hines, the campus' former boss, Ed
(lie has set about to make a pernia
nent establishment of his latest ac
quisition. "deeds" by which full
ownership of the campus is recogniz
ed, have been sent down by Mr.
Hines from Spartanburg and now in
complete possession of the new owner,
Mr. Pritchard.
As for athletics there is none like
l',.ddie or the woods would be full of
'em. Mr. Pritchard, no doubt, excels
in all forms of athletics, but the sport
of which he is complete master, is the
manly art of boxing. On a certain
night, last February, "Champ" Pritch
ardi made the Duke "Heavyman" look
like a "Wharf Sweeper." Eddie em
ployed a twisting defensive style, al
miost consistently, which caused his
opponent to miss frequently. So
favorably was the showing made by
our hero that Tex Rickard has wired
him for a match in the Spring's elimi
nation Tourney to determine a chal
lenger for Gene Tunney's title.
Besides athletic ability that is sel
dom seen in, this secion of the coun
try, Mr. Pritchard possesses the rare
gift of genius and is a born diplomat.
To see him thrust back his shoulders
and throw out his chest, one is re
minded of a bucking young broncho,
or a race horse freshly unharnessed.
Maybe we should say the south end

John Henry Byrd will return to school
next fall. This famous athlete needs
no introduction as his name has been
heralded as one of the nation's great

Byrd came t.o Carolina from the
Pageland high school, as a good pros
pective athlete. It is needless to say,
for every one knows that he won fame
for himself in a very short time. He
has earned letters in the four major
sports for the past three years. He
faces his senior year as modestly as
he faced his freshman year, despite
the fact he has glorified phenominal
athletic feats.
