Alpha Gamma Club Entertains at Tea Miss Eloise Shepherd is Hostess to Group Thursday Afternoon Alpha Gamma club, which is pet-t ioning Delta Zeta sorority, entertained at an informal tea Thursday afternoon it the home of Miss Eloise Shepherd. The tea' table was prettily appointed with rose and silver, the club colors. Mrs. Robert W. Gibbes poured tea during the afternoon. Mrs. C. D. Fairer and Mrs. Joe Quattlebaum, local members of Delta Zeta, called during the hours. The patronesses of the club are Mrs. Robert W. Gibbes, Mrs. A. C. Moore and Mrs. Marion Wyman. Members of the club are: Misses Myrl Vaughn, president; Willie Jo Hughes, Rosalie Turner, Sara Banks, Edna Earle Kir ton, Christine Roof, Mildred Pate, Virginia Taylor and Eloise Shepherd. Basketball Campaign to Run Two Weeks The managers of the basketball teams have decided to run a two-weeks basketball campaign beginning March 1. All teams practice together each day from 5 til 6. On Tuesday and Thursday the practices will be held in the gymnasium. On the other days, on the out door court in front of the Woman's building. The finals will be played on March 17, 20, and 22. There will be a double header on these days. The schedule of the games is as follows: , March 17-Seniors vs. Juniors. March 17-Sophs vs. Freshmen. 'March o4D-Sen ors vs. Freshmen. Mkarch 20-Seniors vs. Sophs. March 22-Juniors vs. Freshmen. March 22-Seniors vs. Sophs. ' The material is here, and it is up to you, co-eds, to make this campaign a success. Harry Davis Talks To Dramatic Club' Columbia High School Students Given Lecture by Caro lina Post-Grad. Harry E. Davis, a graduate student and assistant to the director of the 'iown Theatre, addressed the Colum bia'High School Dramatic club at their last meeting, uising as a general topic, "'Tyies of Theatre Personalit'es." 'He also gave the club, which is quite kge, several minutes drill on tech itial stage terms. All p)er~sons may be divided into positive and negative characters, as Mr. Davis classilies tlicm, and the p)eop)le who plan to work in the theatre must be most de finitely p)ositive ab)out what they want to (10 and how, or else straggle along and be crowded out b)y increasing num bers of positive personalities. In his advice Mr. Davis included some sug gestions for productions and also that "Spoon1 River Anthology" would be an interesting prob)lem for an individ ual to work out and characterize at the club) meetings. Mr. D)avis, together with Miss Ora Mae Jackson, has just completed a set of scenery for this High School club which thle st udents wvill pa nt themi selves and( use in forthcoming produc tions. J. J. Brown Elected Leader of Frosh Y J J. Brown, Jr., of Rock Hill was elected president of the Freshman Y council at the mceting February 16, to serve during the present semester. Other officers elected were J. C. Stone, vice president; Sam Taylor, secretary. At the meeting on March 1, the re tiring and incoming presidents made titeir exaugural and inaugural ad dresses. W. S. Miss Aileen Funderburke spent sev eral days with her parents at Cam den. Mrs. J. K. Johnson visited in Bishop ville last week. Mrs. Eugene Hughes and Miss Cora Coventry of St. George visited the former's niece, Willie Jo Hughes, last week. Miss Corrine Robinson of Latta ;s visiting Miss Sarah Smith. Mr. Royal Kirton spent several days on the campus with his sister, Miss Edna Earle Kirton. Miss Mildred Hines spent the week end at her home in Florence. Mr. and Mrs. Whitaker of Camden spent Wednesday with their daughter, Harriet. Miss Louise Jennings went to her lione in Camden for the week-end. Miss Julia Lewis has returned from her home in Winnsboro. MILIDa Miss Lottie Etters spent the week end at her home in Camden. Misses Hattie Scarborough, Floy Vance and Mildred Hartness have re turned from Charleston where they at tended the mid-winter dances given by the Citadel cadets. Misses Scarborough and Vance were guests of Miss Cor nelia Combs, and Miss Hartness visit ed Miss Caroline Anderson. Miss Irene Dillard is in Boston at tending a convention for deans. Misses Virginia Greever and Grace Saner have been chosen from the g*rls to represent the Lutheran students of the University at the convention to be held at Summerland College. The convention includes all the Lutheran southeastern colleges. Chi Omega fraternity moved into its new club room over the "Gamecock Grill" on March 1. They formerly oc cupied a room on Sumter street. Miss Eleanor Minis spent the week end in Rock Hill with her sister, Miss Florence Minis, who is expression teacher on the Winthrop faculty. Miss Julia Lewis went home for the week-end. Miss Lizzie Gary Craddock has re turned from her home -n Fairfax where she has been for several days. Misses Lois Flaun and Thelma Lockman accompanied Miss Ruby Car ter to her home in Clinton for the week-end. Miss Gillette Tolbert has returned to school after being called home because of the death of her brother. Miss Mildred Cone spent the week end at her home in Ulmers.
