At this time of the 'year the Co-ed glee club is usually on a trip and after a conference with Dr. Douglas I decided that the work of the art classes could not afford to be held up for so long a time and this is the reason I ordered the magazines the governor has seen fit to condemn as immoral. "Of course, after the Art classes fin ished with the magazines they were put on the reading table in hope that some of the students would notice them and would be inspired to take up the study of art in its true sense. The students would have nothing to do with the magazines, so I sent them to the Y.M. C.A., the governor saw theni there and traced then to my door." Had he arrived half an hour soon the pat ient would have died ten minutes sooner. By this time Turpin had reloaded his guns and was about to resume h', search for his man, when Professor Callcott grabbed him and eas'ly suc ceeded in overcoming the enrafed nan by brute force. When asked by the police what he wa doing in California, Mr. Fair said that he was attending the national conven tion of the Y.M.C.A., representing the entire South. This tragedy has cast a cloud 'of dc spair and gloom over the University campus. He is known far and wide for his cha'ring personality and his repu thtion as a charmer of women. It was announced that Prof. Callcot, of the History department, has resign cd his position with the University to become a"model for collar ads for the Cluett, Peabody Co.
