"Omar Khayyam"
Chanticleers hold open session tonight
when they entertain their guests at the
home of Dr. Josiah Morse. The meeting
will begin at eight o'qlock and end, if
we can beleive reports, when every one
has said his say.
The members of the Chanticleer Club
have been asked to bring a visitor to the
meeting. A typical program and dis
cussion will probably be given with a
round-table discussion.
Last Friday evening John Erskine
Hankinm read a selection of the Rubiyat
of Omar Khayyam and spoke upon the
philosophy of the tent-maker. More than
the usual number ot the members disa
greed upon the interpretation of the
verse.
In fact the discussion wax so warm
that Dr. Morse saved the day by serving
,cooling beverage and cakes. So, with
their minds at logger-heads but their
appetites satisfied, the meeting ad
journed.

When called upon to give the name
of her favorite author in response to
the roll call at the Hypatian Literary
Society Wednesday afternoon one girl
hesitated a second and then answered,
"Dorothy Dix." Well, at least we ad
mire her frankness if not her literary
taste because we suspect some others
would have given similar answers if
they had been as truthful.
There will be no meeting of the Hy
patian Society next Wednesday be
cause of preparations for Fair Week
and on the next Wednesday there will
be a holiday for the Citadel game and
Orangeburg Fair. The program for
ihe next meeting will be announced
