It is evident, though, that coach will have a few tricks tip his sleeve to match the shifty doings of his two rival coaches. The score was a little larger than the average, being 33-0. The conflict was almost devoid of any ii tense interest and the patient customers (ad to get their synthetic pep out oi watching the clever work of the Game cock line and backfield and the brilliant work of one of the 'players, Bob Wim )erly, whose work stood out in the last part or-the game when he was sent in as a substitute. Wimberly first stepped into the cal cium glare when he waltzed through the whole psalm-singing team for 50 yards andl a touchdown after receiving a punt. He continued to bring them back in spectacular fashion, although the boun dary lie usually kept him from making any more touchdowns on long runs. He is being prominently mentioned for all American on the campus. Tlhe whole Carolina team played in a mannier gratifying to the coaches, in view of the fact that it has been greatly hindered in its early season practice by unuual heat. When once the team be gan working together, in the last part of the second quarter, the score mounted rapidly, until in the last quarter the scrub) linesmen had their fling. Caro lina's defense was impregnable and less ground was gained through the for wardls than wvas lost ini the attempt to pienet rate themi. The Carolina back field executed lB cocks "Hip" shift precisely and showed the results of much drill ini the effective way they worked it. The Gamecock backfield proved to lbe light but fast and fill of drive. Erskine suffered from a lack of sub stitutes, at the close of the game beeing almost fagged out, but they shlowedl a *true blue fighting spirit. The more we think of his fast running in the game, the faster it seems he ran. And Pratt of the Erskine eleven was a star. Pratt play a strong defensive game, and he surely could punt. At times lie was almost completely sur rounded by the Birds, but he always got off the kick. Keel) up the good work Gamecocks and let's bring the state football cham pionship to Carolina. Remember, each student is expected to be in the cheering section tomorrow when the South Staters battle the North Staters. The Gamecocks will take on the Uni versity of North Carolina eleven at3:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at Univer sity field. The ainual battle is slated to he a thriller. The North Staters will come withithe intentions of avenging the defeat ad ministered to them last year by the Gamecocks, the score being 10-7. But the Birds have determined to thwart the plans of the visitoors, and 'tar' and feathers will fly before the game ends. The North Staters met defeat last Saturday at the hands of Wake Forest, the score being 6---but that does iot mean that the Birds will find 'en "chicken feed". Instead it gives the Tar heels new vigor to win. The Garnet and BlaQk eleven is ex pecting no set-up from the North Caro lina opponents. The players have trained hard this week to be in coidition for one of the biggest games of the season. Supporters of both the Carolina ma .chines have been slow in offering dope as to the oiqtcome of the melee. Regard less of the results when the game is over the visitors are sure to realize they have been in a terrific struggle. That a real match is assured is found in the fact that the Birds and North Staters both boast of elevens composed of fully 50 or more per cent, of veteran material.
