MERRILY We Roll along, Roll along. Four vitories in a space of only fifteen days is not so bad, Eh Gamecocks. CAPTAIN Frankic Meyer rather cap tivated the eyes of the Tarheels, all they could see to the game was his woiderful work at end. Dukes also shone with stellar brilliancy. Good work John, keep it .u ) I BOATWRIGHT showed his heels to the Tarheels when he stepped out to return a pt:nt 68 yards. Earlier in the game Brice also tried to grow wings when he ran through the home team for 39 yards. THERE were plenty of individual stars in the game but what made such a victo ry, and the rest of them too, was the entire unity of team work displayed by Metzger's men. HATS off to Sol. Each day we realize more what a wonderful coach he is. May his victories always continue. STATISTIC show South Carolina in the third rank of the Southern Conference. Alabama and Georgia are in the first rank with three conference victories and no defeats. Then there are two teams in the second rank of three victories and one tie. The third rank of three victories and one defeat is awarded Carolina alone. A VICTORY over Sewanee next week will possibly mean Carolina's going to the second rank. Woudn't we love to play Georgia again though. No use crying over spilt milk. FURMAN'S Purple Hurricane sweeps upon University Field tomorrow. By rights the Gamecock should be victor but the (lope seems to favor the Hornet having a reversal. These games are al ways hard forght. CAROLINA will win if each man does his share and does not make friends with old nian "Overconfidence." The help of the students is needed also. Be 'n the cheering section every one of you and yell till you are hoarse. STATE Champions will sound good to Carolina and to win over the Big Breeze will mean that, so let's go and get them! Everyone be in the bleachers at 3:00 tomorrow. DON'T get up and leave your seat under any circumstances between the halves to morrow. Just sit tight and watch the field. You may get a pleasant surprise, who knows? Al"T .R Furman comes Sewance, the last Conference team on the schedule. Then to win tomorrow would mean Ic play for the championship of the two Carolinas when Carolina meets Wake Forest on Turkey )ay. PERHAPS It would also entail the ad dled captain "also of Virginia"~ for it seems that Washington and L.ee wvill bie tihe ch amp)s of that state and the Geni erals wvere defeated by WVake Forest some wveeks ago. This was urgently needed because of the large classes in drawing. In fact, adequate gIrarters are still a dreani of the future, the recent improvement serving only for the present. The spirit of designing, the search for detail, the training in care and accuracy, are factors becoming more noticeably stronger with each month's work in the present restricted drafting room and classroom space. However, with these, and with a service interest in the ethical aspect of engineering and its social viewpoint, as presented by the American Association of Engineers, which a number of the engineer students are joining early in their career, the trend of engineering courses continue forward with strUngth. Last year's graduates are well scat tered over the world. The tabulation below shows the location and job leld by the 1924 class graduates Jose)h N1 Bell, Columbia, S. C. LOOKING BACK A WEEK IN FOOTBALL The University of South Carolina Has Triumphed in Athletics Record This Year is Go rious-Only Defeated Once By Jay Em Bee "We hail thce, Carolina And sing thy high praise." If ever these beautiful words from the master pen of Dr. G. A. Wauchope and as adopted as the student hymn ever had a soul stirring meaning that time is now I Carolina has triumphed in literary and scholastic attainments and now she has excelled in athletes. Her record on the football field this year has been a glo rious triumph. One game lost in seven played to date and that to a team-the University of Georgia-which is being looked upon as one of the logical con tenders for the Southern Conference honors and for the South as a whole. But that is not all. Some of the friends, we dare say most of the friends of the University thought that the framers of the 1924 football schedule had given South Carolina a tough schedule. Three games in ten clays all of which proved to be real tests for the Gamecocks, did appear hard but with various circumstances to be taken into consideration, the gaines had to be played and the three-iti-ten could not be avoid ed. That strain is over, however, and the way the Gamecocks came through earn ing three well deserved victories has not onil been a source of great pride and joy to Carolina supporters but to those in the state, who are not Coiniecock followers whcn the Birds meet another state foot rall team. E'ven up in North Carolina, where it hurts like being stung by a dagger to be beaten by a South Carolina team, they would admit, if they were fair with themselves that this was a wonderful accomplishment. To defeat Clemson, the Citadel and the University of North Carolina all in ten lays was a great feat, especially when the trio of contests were about as hard-fought bat ties as has been seen in the two states. "And the greatest of these" was the vic tory over North Carolina. that sweet 10 to 7 victory. OTHER GAMES In addition to the victories of Carolina last week on October 29th, at Orange burg, when the Citadel fell victim 14 to 3 and at Chapel Hill, the following Sat trday. 10 to 7 there were some other games of interest in the state. Wofford overcame Presbyterian Col lege, 19 to 7 and since that time, Wofford supporters have taken on additional 'pep' over the muchly improved showing made by the Terriers. P. 1, the score being 50 to 6. The Virginia Tech was considered good enough to beat the Tigers, the the cruch ing blow was unexpected, and all the more severe because it was staged on. Although the original schedule shows an open week for Newberry, the news from the home town of the college has it that the Indians are -to takeon two foes in Florida in three lays, meeting Stetson on Thursday and Rollins on Saturday. The other South Carolina teams will also be out oi the state for games. The Citadel will meet Washington and Lee in Lexington, Va., and Wofford goes to. Macon. Ga.. to take on Mercer.
