PATTERSON WARDLAW TALKS OF SUMMER TRIP Is Speaker at Wednesday Night "Y" Meeting "lThe most interesting thing in trav elling," <aid D)r. Patterson War dlaw at thle regular Wednesday night ''Y" meet ig, 'is to observe how other peole live." D)r. Wardlawv saidl that it would probiably bie most interesting at a reli gions meeting of this sort to tell of the religious life of foreign countries and the variotus forms of chturch worship. "The first Sunday that I was away was spent in Paris," Dr. Wardlaw said, "I attended the Chturch of St. Magda lenme, one of the most beautiful churches, "The priests wore magnificant, costly robes, and there the Catholicism of Vranc was in all its glory. At night, we attended a Hugueiot church, and the spirit of this church was of the high est Christian type. "I'he next Sunday was spent in Rome. There was all the glory and magnifi cence of the Roman Catholic Church at its highest. We attended St. Peter's, the largest church in the world. To us how ever, all the devotion was almost mean ingless. "Vast and beautiful buildings are built to sustain the organization of the many churches of Europe," Dr. Wardlaw cemitinued. "They are used to set forth the glory of the Church. Many church es of Europe pride themselves on their famous collections of relics such as saints' hones. etc., but, he said, "the real glory of a cherch lies in the benefit it gives to humanity." CHAPEL TALK GIVEN BY DR. STANLEY GRUBB 'Must Be Filled to Capacity With Things Belonging to God." "We must be filled to capacity with the things belonging to God, if our lives are to mean most in the world," said Dr. Stanley Grubb in chapel Tuesday morn ing. Dr. Grubb is pastor of the First Christian church of Columbia. He spoke from a text in Hebrews which says, "we must lie filled unto the fullness of God." "No creature is greater than its maker, or his qeral," said Dr. Grubb, "but we may receive many of his attributes, as man) as our souls will allow. "Outside of Columbia," he continued, "is a high power electric line. Every atom of power on a small wire in this house is charged with the same kind of energy. 'T1his energy is given off in each light. So we have a creator of infinite power and goodness, and we may 'oe filled to our capacity with these attri butes. "The greatest prayer that can be made for young people is that they be filled with the power of God. And when we have received this power of God," he concluded, "we should shed forth to the world all the characteristics with which we are imbarred." -U.S.C.
