CAROLINA FRESHMEN WIN
BY LICKI
Jeffords Play Features Game
at the Fair.
Well, folks, the varsity may drop a
game now and thei hut that iincl of
game lilies we call c.ur freshman
team is still going like a house afire.
Last Friday they (lidn't do a thini
butt win their fourth straight. gainle
from the fast Davidson fresh team by
the suhstantial score of 21 to 3.
And more than that, tiey) played
such consistently good ball that there
was never the slightest doibt in, the
minds of those present as to which
team would coeic out on top. The
young Gamecocks played good. strong
football. but more than that tley
played smart, intelliger$ .foot.all.
Brock's tean played "ieads ill" all
the way through and took advantage
of the slightest break ill the gaime of
Wildcat eleven. The result. was a

were the outstalldiig features of the
day's play. Bartelle also played a
strong defensive and very little ground
was gained over him.
Boatwright, in spite of injuries that
made it very difficult for him to get
over the field, played star ball through
out anil ran his teani like a seasoned
veteran. If 11. J. had been barking

Jeffords put up onle of the best exhi

ill the line, Aix. Murdaugh and Joc

They work together about as well as

about their game is that, whllen the
play is run over tile side of tile line,
tley are always back taking mit (n(
