ANDERSON GLEE CLUB ENTERTAINS. University Lads and Lassies Ex press Joy on Having Girls From Popular Insti. tution Play. The Anderson College Glee Club probably never sang to a more delighted or appreciative audience than last night when it sang before the students of the University of South Carolina in their auditorium. The program consisted of a number of familiar selections and the entire evening from be ginning to end was delightfully spent. The lAlma ;Mater "Venetian Waltz Song," "To a Wild Rose," and "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes," were the first selections by the glee club. Following this were selections by Misses Bran ham, Brock, Cannon, Harris, Hettrick, Schmidt, Stewart, Townsend and Whyte. Miss Norma Bass delighted with her "There Are Fairies at the Bot tom of Our Garden," which was followed by the "Mellican Man," by the glee club. "The Birth of the Opal," by the glee club, "Hejre Kati," by Mrs. Herbert Harris, "Oh! Lady," by Miss Lucy Primrose Whyte and the two songs, "Krien's "Spring" and "Caro lina," by Reed Miller, sung by the gluee club completed the evening's program. PORTER WINS PREP TRACK MEET. Porter Military Academy of Charleston won the prep school championship of South Carolina on University Field in the first meet of the kind ever held in this State on last Saturday after noon. Bailey Military Institute of Greenwood came out second, followed by Wofford Fitting School and Carlisle School. After the meet the members of the teams were entertained at a banquet at Flinn Hall on the University Campus, at which time the beautiful trophy cup was presented Capt. Sanders of the Porter team by J. Brian Bell, sport writer of The State. Dr. W. S. Currell made an ad dress of welcome in his usual brilliant and witty style, sand Angrus Macau1y spoke on bhalfw of the student,body. 0. C. Black mon, Carolina's cheer-leader, led cheers for the winners and losers, the co-eds, the Y. M. C. A. and other activities. After the feed the South Carolina Preparatory School Athletic Association was formed and officers elected as follows: W. R. Watson, faculty mana ger of athletics at Carlisle Fit ting School, president; F. L. Blythe, athletic dirlector at Bailey Military Institute, vice president, and E. L. Wright, ath letic director at Wofford Fitting School, secretary-treasurer. THE VILLAGE FRESHMAN. The basketball title among the high school girls of the State was decided at the University by games played by entries on last Friday night. The race for the pennant narrowed down to Mem minger, Anderson, McColl and Wofford high school, these play ing on the University court to determine the championship. The lassies from Anderson completely outclassed the fair dames from Memminger and won handily by a score of 43 to 15. Second place was won by Mc-' Coll high school after an inter esting but one-sided game which resulted in a 50 to 25 victory for the girls from the lower part of the State. The high school games were played under the auspices and supervision of the University Extension Department and cre ated quite a bit of interest among the University students as well as the high school girls.
