In a game that was well played for six innings and a comedy of errors thereafter, Furman defeated Carolina Sat urday by the score of 10 to 8. In the first inning the visitors earned a run and in Carolina's half Chandler led off with a single to center and scored when Seaborn drove one of Padgett's offerings to the right field fence for a home run. The Gamecocks held this lead until the sixth, when an error, a stolen base, an infield hit and a wild pitch allowed the Hor nets to tie the score. Both teams blew up in the seventh and never recovered their bear ings. Carolina went into the ninth five runs behind; they scored three times and had the tieing runs on second and third when Chandler fanned for the third out. The hitting of Seaborn and Sizemore and the pitching of Skinner featured for Carolina, while Speer, Rhame and E. Carter did stellar work for the Baptists. Carolina.
