DR. HENRY LOUIS SMITH WILL COME TO COLUMBIA President of Washington and Lee Will Address Teachers of State. On November 27, 28 and 29 the South Carolina Teachers' Association will hold its an nual meeting in Columbia. This event is of interest to us be cause the leaders in the educa jonal circle of the state are mostly graduates and profes sors of the university. Many prominent educators will be present, gmong them, Dr. Wardlaw, dean of the school of education here;. Dr. Jjeary Louis Smith, president o, W$sh ington and Lee univer ity, and an uncle of Dr. Reno Sith, and Miss Wil .gg qray, well known thruout the state as one of the foremost promoters of the illiteracy campaign. Students of the university would profit by attending the meetings of the association, es pecially those who intend to teach after graduation. On Friday evening the gen eral session of the association will be turned over to the illiter acy commission. Dt. Patterson Wardlaw and Miss Wil Lou Gray are arranging a most at tractive program for this vital ly important subject. The third session will be on Saturday morning when the business of the association will be taken up. It has been decided by the president that there will be no department meetings on Thurs day afternoon. These meet ings will be held on Friday morning and Friday afternoon. This arrangement will make it possible for a great many to be at home for the Thanksgiving dinner and come into Colum bia for the evening meeting. The departments meeting at 9:30 o'clock on Friday are as follows: School improvement association, home economics, county superintendents, depart ment of superintendence, kin dergarten. Those meeting at 11:30 are as follows: Grammar grade teachers, rural teachers, language teachers, history teachers, primary teachers, in dustrial teachers. At 3 :30 p. m. Friday: College presidents, teachers, school improvement association, home economics, English teachers, peace league. The Bolshevist theory is old. Only the name is new.
