BASEBALL PRACTICE BEGNN AT CAROLINA Three "C" Men Return Twenty Candidates Out for Positions Regular baseball practice opened on the University Field Tuesday afternoon with 20 candidates out for the team. Battery practice has been in progress now for more than a week but Tuesday was the first day of the regular practice. From the appearance Tues day, it looks as if there will be some sharp contests for posi tions on the team with the number of candidates increas ing daily and that the team finally chosen will be one that will show up well against the best offerings of any southern college. The team will be built around a nucleus of three of last year's "C" men, Clark, shortstop and captain; War ing, pitcher; Seaborn, catcher. This will be Clark's and War ing's fourth year of college ba.;eball; Seaborn's third. Oth ers back from last year's squad are: Wolfe, pitcher; Evans, infielder, and Kohn, in fielder. Wolfe, despite the fact that this is only his second year of intercollegiate ball, has already written his name high upon the South Carolina score board of fame. He was a reg ular pitcher on his hometown, Orangeburg, summer baseball team last summer, winning nine out of the ten games he pitched. The new men are showing up unusually well for the first days so that Coach Foster should have little trou ble in picking a winning team. The schedule has not been completed as yet, but a large number of the games will have to be played without of State teams due to the fact that so many South Carolina colleges have discontinued intercol legiate baseball. Among those who have late ly left "the fostering care" of Mrs. Madden are: Cannaday, J. F'. Sutherland, J. H. Martin, Sims, Harrington, J. H. Moore.
