CAROLINA GAMECOCKS LOSE TO METHODISTS Out Play Opponents in Last Half But Fail to Score In a hard fought game. Wof ford defeated the Gamecocks last Saturday, by the score of 20 to 0. Owing to the inability of the Carolina machine to get to work, the first half belonged to Wofford. In the second, how ever, the Terrier's were outplay ed, and it was only on account of Ellerbe that the Gamecocks did n't score. Time after time Sea born and Brown made long gains and eluded the line, but then there was 'Ell to pass. And they didn't succeed in passing him. Altho the second half was much better for Carolina, our boys were unable to score against the aggressive playing of the Methodists, and the Wofford goal was never in serious danger. Carolina's backfield put up a brilliant effort to put the pigskin over for a score, but the work was unavailing. Following is the line-up: Wofford 20 Carolina 0 Hammond ... NEWS ..Spiri, Mind, .ody.. A t t h e regular Y. M. C. A. meeting last Wednesday night, Mr. Jones Montgomery gave an interesting ta l k on "Tempta tions and How to Meet Them." The speaker said he had chosen this subject because it was one that would app;y to the lives of all men, for even Christ himself was subject to temptations. Mr. Montgomery spoke of the temptations that came to Christ and pointed out that they were similar to those that we have to face today. He further discuss edI the ways in which the temp tations come to us; some of them coming suddenly as a general would make a (lash upon his op.. ponent, some dressed upJ as an "Angel of Light,'' anid others in a rather slow but persistent manner. As to how we shouldl meet the temptations, the speaker said it was only by having the Spirit of Christ in our lives that we could look the tempter squarely in the eye and overcome him. SEELEY K.
