CIRCLE FRANCAIS TO GIVE FRENCH BALL Noted French Journalist to be Guest of Honor in the ball to be given by the Circle Francais on the evening of April 27 in honor of M. Steph" anne Launzanse, editor-in chief of Le Martin of Paris we will have one of the season's most as well as most enjoyable affairs. The receiving line will inalude M. Lauzanne. the memeers of the advisory council and the re ception committee of the Circle Francais and the editoral step of the State and Secord. The evening en teretinment will be a cabaret dance and dinner at the Jefferson from 7 to 11 o'clock. Special singing and daeeing numders will bescattered thru out the evening. Refiesh will he served at small tables by waitresses dressed in the cos tunies of the "filles" of Paris. Practi cally all of the co eds and several' young ladies of the campus have joined the detachment. Miss Martha D. Beal was dhosen com mandant; Miss Sarah Fickling, treasnrer; Miss Mary Sledge, see retary. The study of the first aid work will be begun as soon as the tdxt books aarive and a phy sician to teach the subject can be secured. The ca eds believe in prepared ness, and are therefore taking military training. The squad meets in the gymnasium every day at one o'clock and drills for a half or three-quarters of an hour. General Thompson expects to give the girls the same drills which he gives the boys, with - slight modifications. There will be a meeting of the alumni and women students of the University at the home of r Mrs. Lueco Gunter, 900 Laurens Streel on Thursday at four o'clock. J. E. Sweaingin, State superintendant of education will address the meeting.
