EDUCATION STUDENTS PROFIT BY TEACHERS ASSOCIATION (C(ONwiNIrIKi FROM I' A ONE.) up with the various departmental meetings. In.the afternoon from 5:00 to 6:30 o'clock, the teachers in attendance were the guests of the University at a reception given in the gymnasium. This event proved to be a most pleas ant feature of the convention, and many expressions of pleasure were heard from those who were present at the reception. On Fri day night, strong addresses were heard from Dr. Chas. A. McMur ray of the Peabody Schools, Law ton B. Evans of Augusta, Ga., and Prof. J. L. Mann, superin tendent of the Greenville City Schools. The final session of the association was held Saturday m->rning in the high school build ing, at which the repo,ts of the onmittees were heard, and oth ir matters of a business nature vere attended to. , Probably the item of iiost in terest to the Carolina alumni was the banquet given on the 16th at J6:30 P. M. in Flinn Hall. Supt. J. H. Witherspoon of the Gaffney C schools, and president of the Car olina Teachers' Club acted as toastmaster, and nu inerous toasts were responded to by various alumni. The occasio . was pro nounced by those present as be ing a m>st enjoyable one, and the sixty-four old Carolina men in at tendance were bound even closer together by the ties of common interests and fond recollection of their alma mater. SOCIALIST CLUB ELECTS Officers Chosen for Second Term and Plans made At a m'eting of the Socialist Club on Friday morning the fol lowing officers were elected for the second term: President, John I. Rice; vice-president; J. S. Schneider; Secretary; J. G. Wa ters, Treasure; Miss Eva Sea wright; Reporter, M. W. New bold. The club had the privilege of hearing several fine lectures on socialism in the early fall, and it is hoped that others interested.in the subject will visit Columbia during the spring. PERSONALS Mr. H. C. James of the senior class, who was operated on two weeks ago has imi oved enouph to> return to his home in Union. He will probably resume his studies next week. Miss Mary Reid, the presi dent's private secretary, has re signed from the administi ation force to accept a position with the Farm Loan Bank. Miss Mary Cutrell is acting temporarily in Miss Reid's place. MILITARY COURSE 0. K.
