Dr. H. A. Porter pastor of the 2nd Baptist Church of Atlanta, delivered a.very attractive and ap pealing address before the Y. M. C. A. Wednesday night. His talk was enti tled the 'The Lost Crown' and was full of good strong ad vice. The predominating thought of the address was that there are a great many people in the world who lack a foresight so sadly that they are not willing to give up their worldly goods, pleasures and companions for the everlasting gift of eternel life. He pointed out to his audience the folly of such conduct, for this our brief span of earthly life compared with the life hereafter. He em phasized the fact that every man who is not a Christian is never perfectly happy, contented or conposed. There is always a feel ing of unrest and uncertainty which is continually present in the non-Christian. The attendance at the meeting was very good and it ishoped that it will continue at subsequent meeinigs. Secretary K ing hopes to secure Dr. Reavis to address the Y. M. C. A. next Wednesday night. All are urged to attend. QUARTET TAKES TRIP The University Quartet, con sisting of John Harley first tenor, Frank Sims second tenor, ). P. Sanders baritone, E. P. Hodges base, and Guy Horne accompan ist filled two engagements last week. Thursday night they sang at Pinewood, and Friday night at Sumte . In Sumter they sang at the formalopening of the girls' high school building. They had a large and appreciative audience at Lo"h places. PERSONALS Beverly M. English, J r., C. E. 1915, is assistant engineer on the Sout,hern railroad with headquar ters at Spartanb,irg. Misses Ficklin and Bauer of the administration staff were among guests of the Legisiators to go to Winthrop. Senior Brearley (passing Little Mountain, S. C.), "This is where that great Revolutionary battle was fought, is it not? Last Friday fifty Carolina stu dlents enjoyed a trip to Winthrop College as the guests of the mem bers of the Legislature. METICS CLUB FORMED The out of state stodents have formed a social club to be known as the "Metics Club." At the first meeting the following of ficers were elected: Miss Alma 'Hauser, president; S. D. Preston, vice-president; Miss Dorothy Horne, secretary; and J. H. Woody, treasurer. Several social functions have been planned for the very near 1 future, and the club promises to i be one of the most active on the campus.
