UNDERGRADUATES ELIGIBLE FOR STATE Contest at Winthrop Third Friday in April. The State oratorical contest will this year be held at Rock Hill, in the. Winthrop College' auditorium. This was deter mined by the executive commit tee of the South Carolina Inter collegiate Oratorical Association meeting last Friday in the Oregon Hotel at Greenwood. In previ ous years the contest has usually been held at Lander College in Greenwood. Rock Hill and Greenwood both made very attractive offers to secure the contest this year. The commit tee voted 4 to 3 in favor of Win throp. The contest is held on the third Friday in April, which will be the 20th. In the drawing for places in the spealking order Car olina drew fourth place. At this meeting the committee made several changes in the con stitution, the most important being the adoption of an equit-, able method of selecting judges for the contest. By this new plan each institution proposes three names. The list thus made up is by a series of strikings, reduced to the requisite five. 'rhe committee satisfied itself by actual experiment that this' plan is practicable andl very fair. The amendment adopted last year making certain uindergrad - nate law students ineligible wvas unanimously repealed. This restores the original qualifica tions by which all undergraduate students who are members of a literary society are eligible. All the nine men's colleges in. the state send representatives to this contest. The University's! representative will he selected at a preliminary to be held in March. iave You Tried the New Cigarette PINKUSSOHN'S POTPOURRI" Its in the Blend Price /Oc .S.
