Y. M. C. A. NEWS "spirit, Mind, Body." Mr. Harry W. White, one of he international Y. M. C. A. see etaries addressed the association t its regular meeting last Wed esday evening. The address as intensely interesting, and or that reason he held the undi ided attention of his audience. hose who were not present issed an address that was unu ually instructive and pleasingly elivered. Mr. White has recently return d from Europe and spoke con erning the work being done by he associations for the soldiers f Europe. He said that tempo ary Y. M. C. A. buildings were rected anywhere just behind he firing line. The appreciation f the soldiers speaks for itself. 'he speaker said that daily there re 10, 000 letters written home )y the soldiers during the spare ours. Mr. White continued his ad ress by stating that the associ tion was not only putting up emporary and permanent build ngs, but they were also provid g band concerts, moving pic ures, athletics, reading rooms, nd other forms of entertainment or the soldiers. All this is done hat for the tinfe being the men ight forget their troubles, which uring the idle moments might ad them to some form of vice. The address was closed by the tatement that the officers were ighly pleased and encouraging e secretaries to continue the ork. The speaker also said iat at present there are 1500 Y. . C. A. camps looking after the hysical, mental, and spiritual elfare of the soldiers of all urope. On November 21 Dr. F. M. erley, one of tihe regular staff cturers of the Young Men's bristian Association on sex ed cation, will visit the University. e will speak in the morning at e chapel hour and at night at o'clock. The. address in the orning will be one suitable for mixed audience and the night eeting will be especially for en. Dr. Seerley has for years lec red in the city associations and rger universities on the subject sex hygiene and comes highly commended by Dr. M. J. Ex ar, the head of the department sex education of the associa an, and by Dr. W. D. Weather rd, international secretary for e South. It has become the fixed policy the Y. 1M. C. At six o'ciock a gentle shower drove them rather suddenly to shelter. Professor Josiah B. Game, who teaches Latin in the Florida State College at Tallahassee,has just published through the Univer sity of Chicago Press a small vol ume on The Teaching of Latin in the Secondary Schools. It is an enlargement of a bullptin which Professor Game issued while teaching in Missouri. Five thous and copies of this bulletins were distributed. Nothing better than this little volume has appeared. Every teacher of Latin should own a copy. Professor Game is a graduate of the University, of some twenty years standing. Mr. E. B. McGill has had a case of rheumatic fever and is able to be up again, but is unable to be out. It is hoped that he will soon recover and return to his work. The directory of faculty, offi cers and students of the Univer sity is completed and will appear during the coming week. Each man's home address and tene ment number are given. The Pinnacle. Truth. who visited Carolina year before last, Dr. Seerley who comes this year, and a number of other phy sicians of the highest standing, have been engaged to visit the universities and colleges through- - out the United States. The Uni versity is to be congratulated on securing so able a man as D)r.
