YOUNG GAMECOCKS AGAIN VICTORIOUS. Carlisle Defeated in Exciting Game, 19 to 6. The Carolina Freshmen defeat. ed the boys from the CarlislE school of Bamberg last Wednes (lay by the score of 19 to 6. ThE Freshmen had no easy time ir turning in the victory for th( Carlisle boys proved themselvec to be a worthy foe. Altho the concensus of opinior was that Carolina would defeal the Bamberg lads by a much lar ger score, the young Gamecocks soon found that they had to fight to down the Carlisle team. Soon after the game began, the Metho dists carried the ball over for q touchdown and it was then that the wearers of the Garnet and Black tightened up so that the visitors were unable to carry thE ball across thereafter. The first quarter ended witli the score 6 to 0 in favor of Car lisle. This lone touchdown waE made for Carlisle by Lenoir, whr ran twenty five yards to the goa line after catching a punt, Caro. lina soon tied the score in th( second period when Browr caugnt a punt and ran thirty si yards for a touchdown, (uplicat. ing the Carlisle captains feat. Carlisle threatened to score ir the last minute of play but theii chance was spoiled when West intercepted a forward pass nea the goal line. For Carolina, Brown was th( partieular star with his kicking and long runs. Moorman, Wes ton, Smith and the other backF also played brilliant ball, Foi the visitors, Lenoir and Hougi played a wonderful game dash ing thru the line for dazzling gains. Clemson registered their touchdown when, after a ten yard loss George Brown at tempted to punt, hut the punt was blocked and Williams fell on the ball back of the goal line. He failed to kick goal. The half ended 7 to 6 in favor of carolina. The feature of the third quar ter. after a series ol punts for each side, was Hough's long and fleet run of 70 yards for a touch down. He outran the whole Carolina team. The last quarter was the big round for Carolina, and the young Gamecocks netted three touchdowns. The first was made on a lateral forward pass from Turner to Brown and from Brown to Moorman, a distance of fifty yards. Carolina made another touchdown in two minutes when Brown threw another forward pass to Moorman. The last one was the result of a skillful fake. Turner went around end on a fake end run and Brown grab bed the ball from him and ran thru the line 35 yards for a touch down. The game ended when Allen intercepted a Clemson for ward pass.
